Excuse me if a thread exists already and has fallen off the front 5 pages.

So here's the deal, and a wise one it is, to foster interest in the youngsters that soon will inherit (please!!!) top rungs in the game:

A race identical to the regular race to London will be open to all players born in 1996 or later. The top 7 at season's end and one WC (who picks that??? , please not @Meles :eek: ) will travel to Milan for competition (identical to London?) beginning November 7. The venue will be Fieramilano and it's an indoor HC surface.

Total prize money is a nice $1.25million but no points are awarded.

I will try to find a dedicated website that tracks standings exclusively for NextGen '96ers. If someone has found such, please poast.

The poll is based on current race standings...top 9 and an other. Hope I didn't leave anyone out.

No idea why BigFoe isn't included — great blaspheme. (okay, I have an idea: you went more or less by the top 8 on the LiveRace U21, but it's flawed because it includes some challengers from the end of 2016 — the correct version is very different [e.g., Koz is sadly way behind the plot because his points are from the challenger win at the end of 2016], although it ain't live, so will change this week).

Imma say Zverev, Andrey 'Young Money' Rublev, Casper 'Brutus' Ruud and BigFoe will be the top 4 — and so it shall be.

That's what I was looking for but I tried navigating the ATP site with no luck. Let's see if I can edit to the current top 9 and "other".

Had no idea Live Race included tail end '16 Challengers.

No luck with the edit but what I will do is update each week with current standings so everyone's aware and can make optimal choices.

A great, great site with NextGen easy access:

has current tournament and next tournament fields and has "live" rankings. The forecast is useless as it is for ATP rankings. If you hover over the points it shows rankings breakdown which may become critical at the end of the year as will the Gain/Eff. fields.:cool:

Edit: Axe Bublik for Coric. Bublik and Ruud may end up very close.

You're a smart guy...most have figured out #6 without having watched any Wimby boys singles title matches in the past three years or touting college ball as the smart route for all juniors. Some may never have read a Bible or seen every recent Russell Crowe film.

Canadian teens Shapo and FAA are alive and adding a few points at a time in the Gatineau Canadian Futures...Shapo in the QFs and Felix playing Quigley for a spot in the QFs.

The Orlando Futures on red clay at the USTA campus this week features Frenchman Corentin Denolly into the QFs but Meomir Kecmanovic lost today and Tommy Paul is battling in a third set 2R match.

The top 12 in the race are now eliminated from play this week but #13 Halys and #14 Mott can climb with advances past their QFs matches in the Wroclaw and Yokohama Challengers.

Whoa, you know about OER? :D Could I ask what improvements you would like to see in the forecast?

On-Topic: Mevdevev for me is the sleeper. I don't think many were thinking he would surge well this early on indoor HC.

I think Opelka, Ruud, Escobedo, Fritz, Tiafoe and Donaldson have a good shot. Zverev is most likely going to be there.

The forecast right now just shows the points dropping off. I suppose in an ideal world I'd like the forecast to include the upcoming schedule with jrank simulations for each of the tournaments to predict how far each player goes. Tennis Abstract does Jrank forecasts.

Jrank is not perfect, but for this task especially out weeks its pretty good. One might need to tweek individual players jranks (Delpo comes to mind.) Raonic being injury prone, but probably jrank just left alone.

Is there any ATP rule for underage player? FAA already in the finals of future events, I hope by the end of this year he is making some result in challenger events.
Halys played a lot of challenger this year with mixed results.

FAA is already past age 16, when all restrictions are removed. ATP does not allow under 14 competitors and combined ATP/Challenger entries are limited to 8 per year until age 15 and 12 per year until age 16.

Quentin Halys and Soon Woo Kwon are climbing with their runs to the Wroclaw SF (Halys) and Yokohama final (Kwon).

Halys is already 10th and moves to 8th with one win and to 4th with the title.

Kwon is now 21st and can jump to 15th with the title.

Tommy Paul and Denis Shapolovov are in Futures SFs today. Shapolovov caught up with FAA, who lost in the 2R at the same Gatineau Futures. Paul can pass The Big Kozlovski into 28th place with one win and 25th with a title. Shapolovov is back at 38th but could be right there with Paul with two wins due to larger amount of points awarded at the Canadian $25K event (Orlando is $15K).

I just noticed Norway has two NextGens in the race...19-year-old Viktor Durasovic is back a bit in 99th place but could vault into the top 50 with a Futures title in Vale de Lobo...Ruud will not be the Lone Wolf!

Zverev remains comfortably in the lead with THF also bowing out in 3R at IW.

Lots of NextGen racers in action at the Irving Challenger with 125 points to the eventual champion. I count five in the race there...would have been seven if ADM and Tommy Paul had qualified along with Russian Currency. Tough draw there...the seeding cutline was #65!:eek:

Thread bump to wave the red white and blue as THF, Escobedo and Donaldson made American tennis NextGen style great again in 1R Miami action on Wednesday. Add in old man Young's win and it has been a decent day!

Just saw this thread. Zverev definitely in a class of his own amongst this group. That being said any of the 8 who make the tournament could win.

His big lead is safe for the time being with his nearest chaser Medvedev absent from Miami. The lead should be even larger but Zed has faltered since Montpellier, losing three of four matches. Even a moderate run these next 10 days would earn points and help him regain some confidence.

Zed has widened his gap at #1 with his move into Miami ATP1000 QFs. The rest of the top 10 has had some movement with Donaldson's R16 Miami result (now #5) and Shapo's title/final results at two 80-point Challengers. Both Denis and Neto Escobedo can improve on their spots at #10 and #8 respectively with matches beginning today at the Leon (Mexico) Challenger. Coric snuck past Escobedo into seventh by two points when he went one round deeper than Neto.

@Red Rick will like a thread bump to discuss Ernesto Escobedo's move up the ladder in The Race to Milan. He is now fifth in The Race with his surprise run to the Houston ATP250 QFs.

Also alive at Houston is our man to party for with his wins...everybody Hyeon Chung tonight if he defeats Deliciano later for his spot in the QFs.

Tomorrow at the ATP250 Marrakech, Borna Coric will attempt to stay alive and book a SF spot vs #2 seed ARV. Should he succeed, he will temporarily leapfrog Escobedo.

Good stuff from our NextGen competitors!

You rained on our party parade and we cannot Hyeon Chung tonight as the young Korean bowed out to Deliciano from a set lead.

Fear not though...17-year-old Miomir Kecmanovic won his R16 San Luis Potosí Challenger match vs the son of Andres Gomez and moves up a bit from the back of the pack.

Coric grabs the second ATP250 title in The Race. Congrats for nabbing his first ATP title. Many more.

Coric now moves solidly into second place in the race with 435 total points, 130 behind Zed the Younger. Three of the top 5 are in the M-C draw this week.
