Babolat Aero Pro Tour hitting session video

Hello Tennis warehouse friends I recently got 2 Babolat Pure Aero Tour and i have few clips of me hitting with it, will you please check it out and tell me how I am hitting with this racquet. So far i am not 100% happy with it and thinking of trying out Wilson Blade 98 18x20 ...
Any feedback on my game, like what i can do to improve and things like that will be much appreciated

Nice hitting, good slice also ! I saw this the other day, another video of you against some guy with a technifibre... What don't you like about it? Have you given it enough time to decide?

Yeah, I'm also interested to know what you don't like about the Pure Aero Tour. I have ordered one to demo and would like to know that Pros and Cons of the racquet.

1) work on your movement, too few little steps and too often your stance is off on groundstrokes.

2) rotate into the shot. You're stopping rotation by folding your left arm inwards towards your body while you hit. This makes you arm the ball quite a bit, especially when you're caught flat footed and can't push off your legs well.

The above may explain why you struggle with a slightly heavier racquet.

This is something i always had issues with babolat racquets yes its true you can get plenty of power but they feels always so stiff for me plus the swing weight is always high especially for the tour version. I already hit lot of spin as it is and i guess i have been trying to hit little flatter and this racquet does not help in that sense. Are you talking about Tecnifibre Tfight 305 racquet ? that was also me , this is actually a frame of Touring pro Denis Kudla, he is friend of mine so he gave me few to try, it was heavy but felt very nice, I am looking for something like Tecnifibre 305 customized i think his is 340g but i would like something slightly lighter

Thanks for tips ! i agree with both and have been trying to work on that, will put those things on my note

That's pretty cool you know Kudla! I heard he's a good guy and had to take the metro to his tennis facility everyday by himself as a kid.

I noticed that your shots with the Pure Aero Tour had nice topspin and hardly ever went out. The racquet seemed to make your bounce on the line right at the last second. May have just been me but I thought that was cool <3

Keep up the good work, I like you game a lot!

Maybe a tfight 315 ltd, much softer flex and low sw.. plenty on here about the racquet which has become a cult classic

I think it was this video, with the bag check...

Babolats are always going to be stiff... only string setup can eleviate some of that problem...

yup true, right on point

LOL thats my friend Denis's brother , not sure which tecnifbre he was using

And what string do you recommend for stiffness of the racquet?

I use Wilson Revolve for my Pure Aero. It's never given me any problems and makes it a tad bit easier to hit flat shots. Babolat Origin is an extremely comfortable multifilament that also is pretty flat-shot friendly. As I said in post #11, and soft co-poly with a low tension is relatively comfortable.

I have used 4g before in my speed pro and had no issues at all.... I have never had TE thank god so I can't comment from that perspective. I just stated it as users rave about how it works well with the PA....

Oh tried the Babolat Origin 16 because it came with the racquet when i got it new and broke the string in less than 2 hours of hitting, then strung the luxilon for other one and broke it in 2 times of hitting with it. I guess the opener pattern of this racquet is making me breaking strings even faster. Im really thinking of just getting rid of it and try something like Blade

i really want to try either tecnifibre Razorcode or Solinco strings, the one that donald young and Querrey is using, any of you guys ever tried those?

If you have steel elbows. Some people do and can handle it well but the majority of players I know can't stand it.

The downside of Origin. It breaks incredibly fast but for TE is the god of comfort strings. If it were cheaper I'd use it in stiffer racquets. However, 21 dollars a pop is a crazy amount of money.

Solinco hyper g is now my favorite string for my pure aero. Let's you big swings and every ball seems to drop on or just inside the baseline. Seems very comfortable as well.

Spin to win's reply in post 4 is correct. Your footwork is poor, and it's placing you in too much variation in impact position. A highly reactive and fairly heavy racquet like the PAT magnifies these variances (since it doesn't understand that you didn't intend that) and you will have a perceived lack of control. It will also be far worse in match play than in the sort of controlled practice you are showing.

IMO you are likely better off with something like the Blade 18x20 or a DR98, or perhaps a Prince 100P if you want a little extra pop.

is Hyper G durable at all? I break Lux alu power 16L in like 2 days of hitting .. need something plays similar to Lux but little more durable

It does not play like Alu power. It is more comfortable for sure and even opens up the sweet spot a bit more. Touch is much better on the Hyper G and so is spin. I can’t speak to durability yet, as I am trying different strings on my TC95s and just had two hitting sessions with the Hyper G.

sorry whats TC95?

My racquets are in my sig. I have two Angell TC95s 330g, 12HL unstrung. They are frames customized for your weight, HL, etc preferences.
Signum pro? i use that also, love those strings hextreme 16L , i have never heard of Angell TC95 what are those?

cut me some slack on my footwork lol, I'm 6 months out from my ACL reconstruction on my left knee :)) I will get better at it

No, I meant my signature. One is strung with Hyper G 16L and the other with RPM 16g. Angell racquets are custom racquets sold through Angell’s web site. I play with the 95 version although I also have a couple of the 100 head size as well. Amazing frames and there are multiple threads about them on here.

IMO your footwork isn't bad, it's pretty normal. When you have time and space to set, it's OK. The thing is that the variation in location and angle produces variation in impact location and angle. A control - type racquet can help minimize the variability. At the highest levels, many players use what are essentially control racquets. They're forced by their opponents to hit while moving and off balance and control oriented sticks are an advantage there as well.

>Absolutely no forward weight transfer.
>Mostly arm-ing swing
>Hitting mostly off the back foot on the FH side
>Mostly hitting the ball on its way down

Choice 1: switch your racket and see if your shots change.
Choice 2: invest $200 towards lesson to improve your shots.
Which one would yield better results? You tell me.

Babolats are always going to be stiff... only string setup can eleviate some of that problem...

And better footwork to improve stroke technique. And more weight inside the handle, preferably adding Blu-Tack or Silicone to make the racquet more Head Light and provide some impact shock dampening while increasing the static mass.

"Stock" "off the shelf" Babolat racquets are usually a lot stiffer than properly customised Babolat racquets are.

And that's before we start looking at the string configuration which can further improve the comfort factor.

Your hitting is fine. We can all improve that's a fact. Just save yourself some cash and get a yonex ai 98. Thank me later when you beat Kudla :)

So Im about to order some Solinco Hyper G , should i get 16 or 16L? I do break strings very very fast, i just broke the Signum pro i got strung 2 days ago but i also don't want to use something super thick that would effect my plays

16g should work nicely so you get a bit more durability. Many pros play with 16 in much denser string beds then yours ;) you’ll be ok, I assure you. I will also try the 16g next time I restring on my 95.
