Babolat Pure Strike Tour

i borrowed my friends frame strung with the yellow Yonex Poly Tour string at 48ilbs and I played absolutely terrible with it. Lost 6-4 7-5 to a player that averages around a single game a set against me!

Not sure if it's the string but I could not get any topspin or grip on the ball. Have really struggled with other frames with this string too. It's a powerful, soft string but to me it grips the ball no better than nylon

Was hitting the ball so much flatter than normal on both sides it was insane!

On the plus side - was hitting the biggest, flattest shots of my life with it - on both sides, just super erratic.

Despite the score,I could feel the awesome power this frame possesses.

Just finished reading the TW customer reviews and no one really mentions the lack of topspin it imparts.

I'm thinking about getting it restrung with a thin poly like Cyclone or MSV Focus Hex to add some grip and therefore spin.

I find Cyclone has a harsh feel so don't want to go there, but it does grip the ball particularly well.

Any other string recommendations that would add a feeling of grip or dwell time to this frame?

MSV Focus Hex 1.18 is a good choice for spin. I think Hyper G 1.15 gives better pocketing, feel and a bit more pop, but a little less grip on the ball than the MSV. I have also used Alu Feel in this frame and spin was excellent but a little harsh on the arm. My preferred set up in this racquet is hybrid of the MSV or Hyper G with OG Sheep 1.15 cross @ 42/46 lbs.

Thanks a lot for that Pleb 123.

I was thinking of putting the 1.18 mm Focus Hex in it - provided my friend lets me get it restrung. I usually use the 1.27 mm Focus Hex in other frames but the thinner string might give me a touch more grip. I tried the 1.10mm in this string and the feel was much harsher, felt a bit like Cyclone.

The Alu Feel in comparison to Focus Hex - which of the two grips the ball better?

The most spin and grip I've ever been able to get out of a setup is with my Prince OS 118 with the 1.27mm Focus Hex.

I play my best tennis with this combo by far,it's just the Babolat PST has me intrigued with its ability to easily flatten out the ball and penetrate from the baseline. Easily the biggest I've ever hit a tennis ball is with this frame!

No worries. Focus Hex grips better than Alu Feel. The thinner gauge (thinner than 1.27) is preferable I think because of the 18x20 pattern. Funnily enough I also did not enjoy Focus Hex in the 1.10 gauge.
What tension are you planning on stringing it at?

45 to 47 ilbs for that dense pattern sounds right to me.

I used the Babolat PST again today. It's the lack of topspin revolutions on the ball that increases my power with this frame.

I'm turning nearly all RHS in to forward motion not spin. Today,I was again super erratic with it,but I can hit some insanely powerful forehand flat drives with it.

For a cost of 25 dollars reckon it's worth getting it restrung just to see the difference.

If I were you I would try out Diadem solstice power or pro first. I have hot with bhb7, hyper g,alu,4g,cyclone,head hawk and many more and diadem solstice power has been my favorite. I have it strung in a full bed in my black and silver blade blx 18/20 and it gives me so much spin but I still have the 18/20 patterns beloved plow through. Really the best option to go for spin in my opinion and you can use the string tool on tw to see how much spin potential this string has
