Well I guess that finally settles the GOAT debate. 32 year old Fred does what peak Ralph couldn't do in 3 tries (including one on clay), which is beat Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets.

Your move TDK!

match ups.

by your logic : RF didn't win a set over Robredo - Nadal destroyed Robredo, lost 4 games i think ?

anyway, tennis doesn't work like that, and u know it.

Looks like Dimitrov has also copied Federer's inability to convert break points! How many break points did Dimitrov blow in this match? How many times was Federer down 0-40 on his own serve?

Big choke by Dimitrov. If he just played like he did in his first two matches, he would have won tonight. :(

Just got too nervous and choked playing against his long time idol.

Obviously I am joking. Nothing TDK says makes any sense. Can you imagine a super troll that would result if TDK and Clarky21 had a child?

That was....... disappointing! REALLY disappointing!!!

I can't help feeling sad for Grigor. :( I think he put too much pressure on himself to put on a good show against his idol. Roger was playing rather sub-par tennis for most of the match and it would have been Grigor's for the taking had he not looked so tight and anxious.

He clearly wasn't feeling comfortable out there -- neither of them were in fact -- In the end I guess it did kinda look like a father half-heartedly playing a "not quite come of age" son after all.

JJ will win multiple slams. Dimitrov will live under his shadow. :)

JJ is already a threat to the big 4. Dimi is just another talented kid, like Gasquet was years ago. Dimi's mental strength is oh well, Nishikori kicked his behind in their match 6-3, 6-4, I think.

What about 130 and her?

Damn!!! JJ should not have changed racquet. He had a huge shot at Valencia. :(

1/10 BPs for Dimi. :(

The Basel highlights music is cool !

people's expectation from this match - Ace and Winner fest, Reality - DF and UE all over the place. Neither ATP site nor the broadcaster are showing the winner and fault counts. Let's just hope Federer got some good practice out of it and Dimitrov learned how to move and keep balance while making shots.

He was SOO CLOSE when he had 3 BPs on Roger's serve! *sigh*

Speaking of great draws. LOL @ both Delpo's and Fed's draws so far. Seriously LOL.

True, Fed and Delpo on a collision course and maybe Fed will get his revenge for last year. His USO revenge is still pending though, hope that happens next year! :)

Well done to all you believers out there who voted for Fed in 2. 8)

Horrible looking shirt + 0-40 down on serve = opponent chokes :) It's been the case in the last two matches, and has happened three times.

Good match for Fed's mentality to come out of those 0-40 situations and playing a good TB. But definitely needs to iron out the errors and NOT to just donate breaks like that again.

I guess that's the difference between GD and Fed. When Fed faced his idol Sampras at Wimbledon in 2001 he handled it beautifully.

Pospisil is pretty beatable I'd say. Although you never know with those big servers, Fed lost to Brands as well. Anyway, if things go normally we can finally see Fed in another final against a fellow top 10 player again. Hope he beats Delpo this time. Then we'll make a thread called "Race to Basel 2014"
