Singles and doubles included, who is the best current volleyer on tour?
I may have missed a few good volleyers but there are limited poll options :)

ps.. that should be Mike Bryan.. not mark bryan..

hmm.. I need to watch lopez more.
The limited time I watched him play, it was big 130-135 mph serves with no need to volley :)

i mean he lost all the confidence he had into his volleys, he cant forget the shot he had in 2003

Neither Federer nor Nadal are close of having the best volley game. Stepanek has some great skills, as does Lopez. Karlovic, when he plays tennis other than his serve, can create some beautiful volleys too. In doubles I really like Andy Ram's volleys.

I would have to say Roger Federer. Only because his backhand pass is unrivaled because he can just sit there and volley with that left hand all day.

It is honestly sad that one has to pick someone. It is really hard to give that title to anyone currently. There are no great volleyers in the mens game today, this is the one area of the mens game which has really fallen off badly. I guess I will go with Roger, just for lack of a better option.

Seriously thou...surely one of the dubs guys like Mark Knowles or bryans or
paes/bhupati would have the best volleys on the ATP. The rest of their
game would mean they don't survive on the tour in singles...otherwise
they would probably try it.
Of actual singles players, Is Tsonga an option:twisted:

I do not know what Fed is doing here, I mean he can volley but is not what he does best.

Ill go with Mahut, Llodra, Lopez, Stepanek and Kiefer. Also Dancevic has nice volleys.

Lodra,Mahut,Stepanek,Lopez,Tsonga for single players.Fed and Hewitt have OK volleys as well but not the best.

Some of their volleys are faster than my regular rally forehands. The Bryan's are in a different league regarding to volleying.

I voted Stepanek before I realized that there were dubs players in the poll. There has to be a couple in there that volley as well or better then Radek. But for a singles player he seems to be the best at net.

It may be more of a surpise how good Nadal is at net. He is not at Fed's level, but for his style, he does have skills at net. I would say Nadal has surprisingly good volley skills.

These poll results are hilarious. Half the people vote Federer because he's Federer. Roger dumps so many easy forehand volleys it's ridiculous. Sampras, Henman, Rafter, heck even Goran wouldn't make such silly errors.



The Bryan Bros and Nestor/Knowles are by far the best in this poll. I don't even see how this is even a question.

The thing about Federer is this: His volleys can sometimes be sublime, to the point of sick and you wonder with jaws wide open "How the hell did he do that??!!" But he dumps the easiest of forehand volleys into the net.

How this dichotomy exists, I don't know.

Goran was not a good volleyer at all, and definitely not better then Federer. Also most people probably vote Federer since nobody volleys that well today, so basically by default. Who cares how he compares to Sampras, Henman, Rafter, when it comes to this particular poll. There is nobody nearly that good today at the net so it doesnt matter. As for the doubles specialists many of us dont even watch doubles and that is the only time you would see some of those.

that's becuase he's overrated, people though he's G.O.A.T, So they think he's the best in everything !!! whenever some best XYZ stroke survey appears, people always blindly pick Federer, now you know why .

From What I see, I think stepanek is the best, he makes it look so easy, makes it look like he has all the time in the world to execute it !!!

Yeah, I can vouch for this. I saw them at the Davis Cup finals last year and saw first hand how ridiculously good their volleys and reflexes are. I was also surprised by how much they swing through their volleys. Obviously on reflex volleys it will be a short block, but on others they hammer them home.
