Best Gosen Syn Gut String?

Whats the best Gosen Syn Gut string to be used in a hybrid in terms of feel and control? I heard good reviews about the Gosen OG Micro Sheep?

Yup Gosen OG Sheep Micro are great strings. Nice feel and very crisp. I've used it in a hybrid with SPPP as the mains and it was wonderful. A couple of the guys I string for also love that combo. Right now I'm using Forten Sweet 17's instead of the Gosen's for a softer feel but I still think the Gosen are an amazing string - especially considering the price.

Actually in general I've found the combination of SPPP ( 1.18 ) and either Gosen OG Sheep or Forten Sweet (both in 17's) as a wonderful hybrid combo at a VERY affordable price.

Can anyone describe the difference(s) between OG Sheep Micro and OG Sheep Micro Super?

Thanks.

The Super is a better playing string. Pretty much all the good characteristics of the OG Sheep Micro but a bit better. More durable and a good bit more crisp while just being a hair harder feeling string. Seemed to hold tension at least as well.

My favorite Gosen OG Sheep is the Jim Courier (JC) version. All that I've said above is emphasized even more so especially the crispness and tension maintenance. The outer coating on the JC is quite a bit better than the other two for that extra durability and crispness this string is well known for. Long time users love this string more so than many of the $10 multis out there. The best was the 17g version, but Gosen no longer makes that, even in Japan. Hard to believe that just the gauge made such a difference, but that string was AWESOME.

Just as you can't go wrong with the regular Micro, you should at least try the Super and JC for yourself to see HOW MUCH BETTER THESE WOULD BE FOR YOU. Then it's up to you to decide to pay the difference for these better strings...

Many thanks for your response. I haven't played with the regular Supers at all, but have had very positive experiences with the JCs. I particularly liked JC 17 and still can't understand why Gosen discontinued it. (I even had a friend here in the US contact his friend in Japan to try to track some down -- no luck. :( )

I have a set of Super 16L/1.25mm. Will give that a try. Thanks again.

P.S. JC 17 was 1.22mm, thinner than most 17 ga strings. I'm thinking this probably contributed to its outstanding playability.

Not a problem, others have helped me here many times so I'm paying it back to you and anybody willing to read my posts.

I forget the exact wording but I recall that the outside coating on the JC was completely different from the others and was harder to make and cost more to produce. I just wonder why they kept the 16 instead of the 17 - maybe as an overall compromise? Still sad that it's gone...
