I want to buy new one, max 1000$. What's the best in the market for that price?

Do companies offer Global warranty? What's the length of the warranty usually?

This Alpha Revo 4000 would be a good place to start

The Alpha Axis Pro is a bit more money but has upgrades as well. I bought my Alpha DC Pioneer Plus from TW and Alpha definitely stands by their brand.

Both machines come with 5 year limited warranty.

Either could have a Wise 2086 electronic tension head added later when you have some extra dough laying around

Thank you for the suggestion. Yes, both Alpha have great reviews.

I've read a comparison between the Alpha 4000 & Gamma progression 2, both great reviews with advantage for Gamma.

I have only owned the Alpha Pioneer DC Plus stringer and other than cleaning the clamps (400+ racquets later), and adjusting the clamp base grips, it has been very reliable. I also have the MS140L by Stringway, a CP machine that weighs in at 12 kgs, travels with my son and I when we fly around Canada and the US for tournaments.

You pay for the portability (just over $1000 with shipping) flying clamps, not fixed, but both these machines get a lot of use in our household, as I string for my kid when we’re away (on the Stringway) and he strings for members at his club. ( on the Alpha).

Very happy with my Gamma Progression ST II, all the machine I need.

Should just about fit your budget?

I bought the Gamma stand, highly recommended addition to the machine IMO.

Biased here, but my vote definitely goes for the Alpha 4000. I got one used from a guy on this site over 5 years ago and it's still going strong. If you can find a used one, you can probably get it at half the price you are willing to spend.

still using my pioneer DC plaus for many years now and still going strong. Aside from replacing the broken spring it had; which was an easy fix, I kept on using it. Although I may consider swapping it for a Wise Tension Head for more consistent string jobs.

Me too! We have parallel experiences and plans! (Except I had no broken spring)

$1000 literally can get you a quality stringer such as Alpha and Gamma. A lot of people stay away from Eagnas product due to its slower build quality; eventually ending up costing more than it should.

I have a Gamma 602FC. IF I were to do it again, I would probably go with the crank model rather than the DW. So the Alpha Revo 4000 would get my vote.

My friend has the Eagnas and says it is the gamma with a different name (as in they make the gammas, like GMC vs Chevy vs Caddie same insides just slight differences on the outside).

First of all - I doubt this … but I'm willing to be wrong

Which model does your friend have?

Has your friend had any experience using the equivalent gamma machine or just based on seeing one?

So far, gamma and alpha are the front runners based on experience here. Given the reputation for service and durability (and experience on this thread) my bet is on either of those two horses...

I wish I'd bought an Axis Pro. I have a Gamma X2 that I got as a present, an Eagnas stand-mounted crank that I bought used, and a very old stand-mounted Alpha that I bought used and have had to modify to get to work correctly. All three together cost more than an Axis Pro.

I just bought a used Gamma Progression 602FC. Upgraded from the predecessor to the Gamma X-2. Even with upgraded clamps (Klippermate), I think the 602FC is going to blow the doors off the flying clamp machine. 6 point mount, fixed clamps. Should get my first job in this week. Even with a Wise, I'd be under the OPs budget.

OP - I'd be surprised if something from either of the big machine companies in your price range would really stink. Gamma or Alpha should both be solid choices. Go fixed clamp and 6 point mount, then choose your tension method (DW or Crank). The only stuff outside of your budget are the electric CP machines.

That is a lie that Eagnas tries hard to make people believe.

Having owned both brands, Gamma's build quality is MUCH higher than Eagnas'

Gamma's customer service is also quite good, while Eagnas' is by far the worst I've experienced so far.

A plus for Gamma is that the Gamma Rep actually is active on these boards.

Another plus for Gamma or Alpha is that many on this string have already commented on the customer service and quality of these machines, which is the whole point of these boards too. I would go with either one of these stringer manufacturers based on the experiences these good people have shared here.

Nope. I’ve owned 3 eagnas machines and a gamma machine. They are not the same quality at all. Not even close. The eagnas crank machines I owned had a considerable amount of play in the turntables. The gamma had much tighter tolerances.

I've also owned both a Gamma and an Eagnas Lockout machine and the Gamma by far is the better machine.

+1 for Gamma. I have the X-ST purchased new with the stand. Was around 1000 if i remember right, and other than occasionally having to adjust the clamp springs and the usual maintenance, it's still going strong. If I had more money I would just get a better Gamma. But it definitely does the job, and I've never had to recalibrate it.

What if I buy a random DW machine with 6points mounting, then change it to wise 2086 head ?

For under $1k, I would get a stringway auto drop weight machine. The turntable is super solid. constant pull is the other major selling point for me. Having owned both lockout and constant pull, I will never go back to lockout.

Yep. Alpha Pioneer at $500, plus Wise head at $625, gets you an eCP for $1150. So saving a few hundred bucks from something like a Gamma X-ELS or Progression ELS.

Not sure what you mean by "random" DW. I would still be sticking with a reputable quality DW machine. Putting a Wise on a turntable of lesser quality would be like putting lipstick on a pig.

You are really limiting you options by wanting oly a new machine <$1K. I would not ask what others thought was the best machine I would ask myself what I am looking for. The #1 feature I'd look for in a machine would be the clamps, and the lowest cost clamps are flying clamps whiles fixed clamps are more expensive. When you get into fixed clamps there are glide bar clamps and swivel clamps, glide bar clamps are lower cost while swivel clamps are more expensive. Glide bar clamps work great on rackets with parallel strings stringing 2 piece patterns. Swivel clamps work well and any racket with any pattern. The next feature I would look for is the tensioner, I myself prefer a constant pull but lockout machines are less expensive, accurate, and fast. When considering CP the DW is the low cost and extremely slow while the eCP is the fastest and most expensive. The next feature I would look at is how dependable the machine is, customer support, and the guarantee. The turntable would be the least of my concerns.

As far as a global warranty I'm not sure what you're looking for, bit if you buy a machine from Wilson USA don't expect to go to a dealer in Europe and get is repaired under warranty unless you're prepared to ship it back to Wilson USA and pay shipping both ways.

This is what I did. Added a Wise to a Gamma Progression II 602fc and I don't regret it. Saved a few hundred from the cost of a Gamma electric. Plus if the Wise ever breaks down on me and has to be sent out for repair, I have the drop weight mechanism to use in the mean time.

Alpha and Gamma both have nice table top cranks under 1K, if you want a nice upright crank from prince, gamma or Alpha, you can look for one used. Also, could be wrong but the electronic gamma xels tabletop used to be right around 1k.

Thank you all for your suggestion. It's my friend the stringer who asked me to help him find new stringing machine.

Anyway, he bought a used Prince 3000, hopefully he's satisfied.
