Better Match-up against Nadal on clay: Borg or Djokovic

Borg is obviously the only person in tennis history whose resume on the dirt rivals that of Nadal.

I am wondering if the talk tennis community feels that Borg, assuming he had had access to modern equipment, training, etc., would have had the kind of game to give Nadal problems on clay.

Or was Borg too "low-power" to trouble Nadal on the surface. My fear is that Borg was just a superior version of David Ferrer and would have lacked the brawn to push Nadal around in rallies.

Thoughts?

One thing is sure, Borg would never surrender physically to Nadal and would return everything Nadal sends to him. That's the type of tennis that gets Novak into Nadal's head - it makes Nadal miss (and that is what Nadal has been doing to his opponents).

Borg was faster, played with a high margin of safety thanks to the amount of topspin he imparts onto the ball, so it wouldn't be easy for Nadal to play against another version of himself (although without that killing forehand).

My friend described this potential match-up as a "water torture". Couldn't agree more.

Nadal pretty much outclasses Borg in every aspect, bar speed. Djokovic is another matter.

Borg has a better backhand, serve and volleys. Nadal's biggest advantage is his forehand and being a lefty.

As for the OP, Borg easily.

If Nadal's opponents are playing at their peak -

1) Djokovic 2.0( the 2011 version ofcourse)
2) Borg
3) Kuerten

Borg's strokes are as obsolete as the equipment he used.

Certainly if he developed modern strokes he would be competitive with Nadal. However, if we were to simply transplant Borg into the modern game, without stroke adjustment, he would find it a challenge to keep up with Ferrer.
