Do it Chopin!
The Garden Rocks and you will have a good time.
Plan a full day of it.
If you live in the city good if not take a train in right to the Garden.
Bring binoculars if hi up.
Even the "bad" seats are fun.

Thanks for the replies. If I do go, I'll take pictures to share with you all.

What's parking like around the Garden if I drove into the city?

Don't do it! Don't support exo's. Watch it on the internet (for free) or ignore it.

What's wrong with exo's?

Bit surprised that Federer will play this (tomorrow!). He should be careful with his body. I expect Federer to go down to Roddick quite easily. Roddick wants to make a point and Roger will let him make it. 6-4 6-3 Andy.

It will be Roddick winning the first set 7-6. Then Federer wins 7-6. Then they play the third set for real....Federer wins 6-1!

They'll both decide 7-6's are too long. 6-2 2-6 and then a real set would make more sense. In that real set, Fed will still play at 40% and tank it. Roddick to win I think.

You answered your own question: although Fed is smart enough not to complain about the ATP schedule - like Roddick! - even in a 'friendly' there's a chance of getting hurt. The talked about $1 mil RF is going to pocket is hardly worth it - he's going to be able to afford college for his daughters without it.

He's playing an exho in the States TOMORROW??????? Please tell me this ain't for real.

Monday night, and night in the states is a few hours later again than the night now in Dubai. So.. it's possible, but not worth the million dollars he gets. Still, If you can trust any player to schedule wisely and not (just) for big money, it's Roger.

I was just looking into this since I'm from Phoenix. I want to see Nalbandian play. How do I go about buying tickets? Like is it for a specific match you buy tickets for? Or the whole day? Any help would be appreciated as I've never been to a tennis match before.

Honestly, being in the USVI for much of the year, I don't have the chance to see much professional tennis live, more or less see Federer play. I'd be happy to just see him hitting, regardless of what his intensity is.

Manhattan has gone Illuminati corporate since I lived there late 80s-90s.
Always hoofin or mass tran.
Plenty of parking now Pricy.
Should be cheaper several blocks away if you into walking a little.

Anyone going to this? Thoughts? Anyone have opinions on seating? Is the 400 level seating decent? How long might an exhibition like this run?

not to let you down or anything, but these kind of matches suck.

went to fed vs samp back in 08 and it was trash. the players are obviously not trying, and its just for pure entertainment.

as for your questions..

400 level is fine as long as your facing perpendicular to the court (behind or in front of umpire's chair). but even if you're not, you should still have a good view of the match.

since there's two matches (and fed will most likely be playing last), you can expect to be there fairly late (assuming that the exo starts at 8ish).

Thanks for the replies, all. I know this is just an exhibition, but it would be great to see Roger in person.

Parking, Watching, Eating

You didn't say from where you are driving into the city. If you are coming in from NJ and taking the Lincoln Tunnel there is a garage right there when you exit (I think it might be on 42nd). That's probably your cheapest bet. You then walk a few minutes to the Port Authority subway station and take it one stop downtown direction to Penn St. 34th st. You don't even have to exit the 34th st. station to make your way to The Garden.

This EXO is local for me but I really don't like this fake stuff. And I can't think of a less interesting match-up even for a fake match. But to non-tennis people, which will be most of that crowd at least courtside, they know Roddick.

That said I've spent hours just watching Fed practice so I certainly see how you want to see him play even a fake match. When he leaves the game there will be a whole as large as any player that's ever left it.

As to the seats, in my opinion the upper section at the Garden is not really good for tennis but I remember sitting up there sometimes back when they had The Masters and I had a good time.

If you do go, enjoy yourself. And if you are looking for a bite after I would steer clear of that neighborhood and walk over East a few blocks to 32nd between 6th and 5th. A ton of good Korean restaurants and most are open very late (I believe some maybe 24 hours). And a cuisine you will not find on the V.I.

If you go, let us know what you thought.
