Bookmakers say Nole is the favourite to win Wimbledon

The bookmakers jinxing attempts have to stop.

I think the more important thing is that Djokovic improves his game. He's up against players who are more naturally acclimated to grass in Murray, Federer and Nadal.

Nole has been the "Favorite" at the last 8-12 slams. And he isn't winning any. So who cares

Djoker has essentially turned into Murray. Great best of 3 set player but can't get it done anymore in a best of 5

In my opinion, Djokovic is the safest bet to make a deep run at Wimbledon of all the big 4, however I don't see him beating anyone of the other 3 if they play at Wimbledon.

I have to agree with this. Murray and Federer are much more accomplished grass court players. Nadal is shaky and prone to upsets, so he's a question mark. I actually have to give Djokovic an edge over Nadal on grass unless he plays stupidly.

Nadal is shaky in the first rounds (when the grass is still there :) ), but if he gets safely to the QF he'll be very dangerous.

Big 4 all have decent chances to win Wimbledon this year in my opinion, but if Nadal is still in the tournament in the second week, he'll be the favourite for me.

I am willing to put $$$ that he will get to the semis. I won't put more than $3 on anything after that...

They say that for every slam and at the end of the day its mean absolutely nothing! It doesnt depend on the bookmakers it depends on djokovic

If Nadal gets past that first week I think he'll be very tough to beat, especially if he's healthy and moving well. I keep expecting him to challenge for the Wimbledon title again. It could be a really exciting tournament to watch.

Bookmakers will be wrong again.

In all seriousness, why do they keep putting Nole as favourite?

He's won just 1 of the last 9 slams.

They said the same thing last year, didn't they?

well I got on Nadal at 7.2 as I thought he was too long before the French. He's come in now to 6.0. I doubt he'll fall early again but obviously would be funny if he did (and I'd happily sacrifice my 15 dollar bet to see that!!).

Murray is the favorite IMO. Best grass court player of the last 2 years and he looks to be coming into top form again. Might be invigorated by the new coach too.

Murray is definitely one of the top contenders, along with Federer despite his early loss there last year.

We talk here about who is the favorite to win Wimbledon. A favorite is the player thought most likely to be the winner.

This, I agree!

IMO, good betting strategy (if there's such a thing) for Wimbledon would be:

1. Before the tournament starts, bet on Murray, let's say 300$.

2. Wait until the QFs, IF Nadal is still there and he and Murray are in different halfs, bet 200$ on Nadal. If Nadal loses before the QFs, bet on Murray another 200$.

Well that wouldn't be Novak that is for sure. I would say Murray, Nadal (despite his last 2 Wimbledons), and Federer are all more likely to win the title than Novak. Nadal is far more likely to crash out early, but he is also far more likely to win the actual title.

As for bookies they seem to have a hardon for Novak and pick him favorite for everything. Even Roland Garros over Nadal who has won like the last 10 French Opens, and even at Wimbledon which most would agree is overall by far his worst surface, and also at the U.S Open despite his 1-4 finals record. While he isn't even ranked #1 (as he currently isn't) it makes no sense to pick him as favorite for anything besides possibly the Australian Open and WTF. That doesn't mean he cant win (especialy the French or U.S Open) but he shouldn't ever be the favorite right now. It seems to becoming a pattern though, bookies make Novak favorite for slam, Novak loses slam. I feel sorry for his fans, and they seem to be jinxing him if anything. :(

Djokovic has reached the latter stages of Wimbledon often though and is comfortably one of the favourites, he's just not as natural on the surface as the ''other three''. Also, his movement isn't as well suited and he lacks a certain explosiveness and core stability that the other three (at least Fedal) display more of that is needed to maintain balance on grass -- they lose their footing less and look more secure.

(Djokovic's athleticism is overrated).

Not sold on Murray post comeback.

It's hard to get a read on Wimbledon especially with recent volatile results there from Nadal and Federer, anyway:

Nadal >> Djokovic/Murray > Federer >>>> Others.

I thought bookmakers said Djokovic was the favorite to win French Open just last month. It must be embarrassing to be the bookmakers.

If you think about it Djokovic is probably the favourite because he's the most consistent and thus the safest bet to reach the SF's. Once the other big 4 members are also in the SF his odds go down.

I would be very interested in seeing Djokovic vs Nadal at Wimbledon. I think it will be a very even matchup. People exaggerate how much the conditions in the 2nd week help Nadal. Sure, Nadal is a lot more comfortable by the 2nd week, but no matter what, Nadal's forehand won't be as deadly on grass as it is on clay.

Djokovic beating Nadal in the Wimbledon final -- I'd take that if Federer doesn't win it. For the first time ever after the RG final I felt for Novak.

I want to see some young gun really make something happen though at Wimbledon.

I'm not sure if I would want Novak to meet Nadal so soon after that RG defeat. We saw what happened last year at the US Open and that was a good few months after that epic SF clash between them. Moreover Nadal has now won the last four slam meetings against Nole so I think he would be have to be favoured again, plus he'd be wanting revenge for the 2011 final.

I just really hoping they get it right this time round- I've forgotten what's it like to see Nole holding something big and shiny in his hands.

Djokovic fans have had an amazing time of things recently regarding Djokovic winning titles, which I imagine makes it even more frustrating and makes the fall much more crushing when, despite all of those wins, at the biggest events of them all he keeps falling just ever so slightly short...

Here's to a Federer/Djokovic final.

Yeah, it certainly isn't looking likely. The rise of the next generation has been slow -- I think we can conclude it's not a particularly good gen and also they don't seem to have much grass-court pedigree.
