Boris & Nick Still Going At It

Boris Becker says the past legends of the sport made it possible for Nick Kyrgios to make a living from tennis without playing all year: “We live in a democracy. Everyone can think what he wants. You have to have respect for the past & simply say 'thank you' out loud that these old pros existed, because without them the tennis circus would no longer exist.” “Let me start with Australia. Rod Laver, Ken Roswall, John Newcombe, Ken Roach - the gladiators of the Australian tennis scene. Then I have to mention Patrick Rafter & Lleyton Hewitt. They were all number one, they won Grand Slam tournaments. I go further in the generational question & say: 70s, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg, then Ivan Lendl came along." "They popularised the sport, they drew viewers to the television. You can see the result today. There has never been so much prize money, there has never been so much publicity as there is today. And that's because of the legends. I did play a bit in the 80s, but there was Edberg, Wilander. The 90s were Agassi, Sampras. All these players make it possible for Nick Kyrgios not to play tennis at all this year & still be able to make a living from tennis."

·Uhhh what? I’ve been arguably one of the most watched players outside the big three the last decade? Fans around the world and have brought so many more people to the sport. I’ve created my own stuff off the court. Try to not hide any more assets x

Nick needs to shut his ignorant mouth. I have rooted for him since 2014, never again. Boris is a tennis legend. Nick could only dream of winning back to back Wimbledon's at 17 and 18. What a complete tool.
You should have had more self respect. There is no way anyone descent can root for him.

Spoken by someone who starts 4,000 garbage threads about your idol every single week. Take some advice and lay off. Don't lecture anyone else about "self respect" when you are the worst spammer of Djokovic to ever live.

And the word is "decent," not "descent," but I won't carp on that since English isn't your first language.

Nachiket has a point there, rooting for a garbage like Kyrgios is questionable in many ways. Kyrgios reeks vibes of a cheap lowlife thug who lacks self respect himself, now a guy like that is bound to have no respect for any achievers in the sport. Only someone who has strived hard for something and achieved something can respect guys who achieved more than, so yes, supporting Nick is questionable taste in Tennis & in men.

But why are you getting angry. You supported Kyrgios.
1. he is convicted woman beater
2. he is worst kind of bully
3. he tries to get personal with a player, an umpire or a fan
exibit a vs a player

exibit b vs an umpire

exibit c vs a fan

exibit d for more proof vs an atg

4. He has no class. Lacks civility

5. Even the tennis bad boys are afraid of him because he is such a lose canon. Fighting vs him is wrestling with a pig.

Tell me what to say about people who root for this degenerate. I have never fallen for his self pity and sob stories. His mental issue is he is an a hole.

Lmao @BeatlesFan apparently there’s questions marks around your taste in men

Wack post Razer

I don't know why it has taken a fight with Boris to trigger so many people into realizing Kyrgios is and has always been a pos. We have threads and many jokes about other players being accused of being an abuser. Kyrgios is one. He has pleaded guilty to being one. We've got countless examples of him being a scumbag on court, there is a video of him throwing his racquet and being an inch away from hitting a ball kid, if not for the kid actually dodging it yet goes full "punish" on any other player who does it. Or how about the sheer number of online comments and insults he has throwing around then gets all defensive and deflective when it's on him?

For any other normal human being, we would have thrown him in the trash years ago but he still has some fans, they still hire him for commentary? Why? He's not even a good tennis player. He's made it to the QF in slams 4 times and has ZERO big titles. Enough already.

It's almost funny how delusional Kyrgios is. He's also walking into a trap that Becker has laid, for the future, when reality hits Kyrgios at how he has wasted his potential. Becker wasted lots of his own potential, but he also achieved a lot of it as well. Becker's life completely changed when he won Wimbledon as a 17-year-old. Superstar status, the struggle to handle it a lot of the time, and some devastating lows in the future, but Becker was excellent at man on man combat. Even his nemesis Agassi fell victim to that at 1995 Wimbledon.

Kyrgios' mind and way of fighting just isn't operating on the same dimension or wavelength as Becker's.

Nick Kyrgios has brought 'millions' of more fans to tennis?

Nick Kyrgios is responsible for the failed Netflix show?

How delusional is this guy? Truly lives in his own world.

Boris shouldn't be doing this as older champion, yet he is and it's like watching 2 beaten dogs fighting. Both of them are actually bad examples of tennis and post tennis careers.
Is there any particular reason we should take sides ?

Arguably one of the most watched players outside of the big 3 for the past decade? Uhh I’d like a fact check on that one. In Australia sure and when he was creating headlines for being a pathetic headcase abusing people and chairs on court maybe but people weren’t watching in droves outside of that.

It is telling that the one thing this idiot is always boasting about is this Netflix series. Not much else to brag about.

The Netflix series isn't even something to brag about. The show got crushed by Drive to Survive and the golf show Netflix made in viewership,

1. F1 Drive to Survive: S5, 90.2M
2️. Full Swing: S1, 53.1M
3️. McGregor Forever, 41M
4. Break Point: S1, 30.5M

A tennis show can't top golf, formula 1, or MMA and Kyrgios thinks he put tennis on the map. Embarrassing

I haven’t read all the posts here yet but my thoughts are that Boris is saying all these things to Nick to fire him up snd get back in the ring.
I think Nick is the type of guy who needs a little reverse psychology to get the desired outcome. If you want Nick to do or say white, you have argue black, so he will go against you and achieve white and believe that he worked it out all by himself - I don’t think you get through to this guy otherwise.

Why would Boris need that. He is defending his records which he has always done.

Boris isn't a yes man of tennis like Wilander and McEnroe. Even McEnroe. They keep singing lyricals about how the big 3 era is the best ever because it's their job as commentator. Boris, being German, he is more straight forward and that's why I always loved his commentary the best.

This isn't related to Nick. Boris Becker always has appreciated the legends and he understood tennis much better than someone like Nick who actually hates tennis (he isn't so bad blah blah blah) and hence has very little appreciation to conditions he has never faced before.

10:40 onwards you can see how Boris, the youngest among these four, is defending their era.

Fair points from Boris, but he’s wasting his time trying to reason with someone like Nick. Boris will get nothing back except snark, facts and logic will not be acknowledged.

I expected tennis-related snark but throwing tax-avoidance shade when you live in the Bahamas? wow. Becker might've ****ed himself but he achieved every player's dream: win WB and drive a hypercar at 19yo. Kyrgios made quarters and drove an M3, just like Bernie.

I loved Kyrgios' game but this is just **** poor behaviour.

I think Nick is upset about his career tbh. He knows he could have achieved more if he had the right mindset and now he knows he's close to being done.

With all his injuries, he’s probably realising people aren’t talking about his ‘potential’ anymore. Now it’s just his results, which aren’t that great.
