I dont have a staplegun and am changing the grip pallets on my head raquets, is there any reason why i couldnt just glue the butt cap on instead of stapling it?

Yes. The glue won't hold. You can try a manual staple gun from places like Home Depot, but I've never had good luck w/ them.

Luckily for me, I replaced all my upstairs carpeting w/ hardwood, so I had an 'excuse' to buy a pneumatic stapler. I want to say the pressure is set to ~ 90-100PSI when stapling my buttcaps back on.

I used Gorilla Brand 5 minute Epoxy Adesive to glue the buttcap to my Head Instinct after replacing the pallets. That was about four months ago and I’ve not had an issue since. I’ve had several issues with loose buttcaps in the past since I hold the racquet down quite low and swing fairly hard. I just opened the trapdoor and can confirm that the buttcap hasnt moved whatsoever since I glued it.

What you should make sure to do first was clean both the pallets and the inside of the buttcap (remove the trapdoor if your buttcap has one) with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol would work fine too), let it dry (which should only take a few seconds) and then sand both surfaces lightly (but ensuring that the entire surface had been sanded) with 120 or similar grit sandpaper before cleaning again with isopropyl alcohol and letting it dry. Then dispense a small amount of the epoxy and mixed it thoroughly (one option is with a wooden popsicle stick) for about 1 minute until the colour is a uniform (translucent white in the case of the Gorilla epoxy) colour, before applying the mixture to both surfaces (one option is with a plastic disposable knife) and pushing the buttcap into place. Have a cloth ready to remove the excess epoxy which will ooze out when you push the buttcap on. Finally, stand the racquet upright and let it stand upright for at least 24 hours while the adhesive cures before using it. Any epoxy adhesive should work fine and the procedure should be very similar.

I must have not used the correct glue, or applied it incorrectly, because when I tried it the buttcap started creaking after a few months. Now, I may have 'accidentally dropped' it on the court a few times, but still, I've never had an issue when stapling.

Additionally, if it does hold that well, how do you remove it later w/o toasting the buttcap? Granted, I've mangled a few removing the staples in the beginning, but I've now learned how to do it cleanly.

I definitely won’t be able to remove the glued buttcap without a lot of difficulty! Staples are good but you need to have the right stapler.

I use a Arrow T-50 manual stapler and a tack hammer to drive them flush.

Wish I had pneumatic
