Clash 100 to similar specs of a Clash 98

I have a friend who was hitting with a Clash 98 with Gut Poly for a while. He also plays with a v6 Blade 18x20. Both are stock.

He sold the Clash to someone in dire need of a new racquet and kept using the Blade which he really enjoys. Recently was gifted a Clash 100 but doesn't like playing with it much due to the specs differences. I'm going to work on it to see if I can add a bit of weight to copy the 98 set up (static weight, swing weight, balance).

Anyone work on the Clash 100 to try and do such a thing? Also what popular string set ups have worked well for you?

Thank you

You can get it close with a few grams at 12 and some weight on the handle. But it won’t have the pop of the 98, the 100 just seems to limit out on power. It’s weird and hard to explain as the 98 doesn’t really do that. Plus the center mains on the 98 are much tighter so it’s more control if you use a nice dead poly.

YMMV, but I don’t think you’re going to get the court penetration with the 100 no matter what you do to the thing. What type of ball does your friend hit? If he likes the Blade, my guess is strong you won’t get it there.

yeah...I'm not expecting to it magically appear to be a 98. Maybe I'll bump him up to a 16g as he normally likes a 17. Most important spec I'm thinking I should aim for is swing weight. First will try some minor lead tape mods and a nice string. It has some factory strung SG.

I think in the end...it won't be his primary racquet and just wants it to be a racquet that he agrees with. He is very happy with the blade. He hits moderate topspin off both sides and has a nice skidding BH slice.

Thank you btw for your insight.
No problem. It’s still a fun frame to hit and I agree…. If you get the SW very close, he will enjoy it. The Blade can be his match frame and the 100 a fun hit. I really liked just hitting around with the 100 before I sold the one I tested for awhile
