It was nice to see Clijsters with her splits, and lunging backhand slice-lobs. She did a split in the first set, which didn't work, but man, she has insane flexibility. I was really amazed at the power Venus brought on early into the match, but errors, exhaustion and Clisters's relentlessness took too much out of her after two sets. The third set was one-sided, and John McEnroe made a comment that she might have spent too much energy in the match with her sister. It was a little hard to buy that.

I was rooting for Petrova in the previous match, for no other reason than the fact that Sharapova's screams became very irritating, some of them extending well after the ball is in the opponents court. Atleast the second quarterfinal match was won by the player who didn't shriek.

``I was playing decent and she started playing really bad and it totally threw me off,'' Williams said, whose lack of graciousness after the match equaled her lack of precision during it. ``She started hitting these really weird shots and short balls, just weird stuff. Next thing I knew I was playing as bad as she was. She was able to recover. I just wasn't. I guess maybe it was a good strategy.''

OMG. Classless as always.

And this coming from someone who claims to be such a wonderful "role model" to all the young African Amercian tennis players in the country.

Blake is a role model. The "Sistas" are trailer trash.

I truly hope Kim goes on to win the Open, she deserves it.

I hope Kim wins this slam. I agree with the commentators that this could give her the mental toughness she needs to win a slam.

The post match remarks really sums up what the Williams sisters are about. She lost the second set because Clusters made her hit more shots and she choked on a lot of them. The 3rd set was over before it even started cause she was out of gas. But lucky for her she still had some leftover to make a up a excuse like that.

Oh well, Venus had this match won and gave it away. Cant really say Clijsters took it with all of the UEs and breaks in the 2nd set. Women's tennis kinda sucks. None of them can volley to save their lives.

This has been said before, but if Venus had a reliable forehand, and a reliable service motion, she would be unbeatable.

time for the bimbo sisters to pack it in. Sick of having to watch poor tennis and listen to all the excuses.

Just do tennis fans a favor and retire. The act is stale and the quality of tennis is even staler!

I wonder if the match started to turn when Kim figured out her sloppy wrist action in hitting so many shots in the net (at one point, her coach illustrated the shot to Kim's lovely mother).

I also wonder if Kim's mental attitude toughened when Ms. Williams, having the entire court to slam the volley, instead went straight at Kim (talk about the lowest level of classless--and then trying to blame the loss on Kim's "bad" play)! If anyone heard a commentator address the body blow, please let me know. Ms. Williams also played head games with delaying for a towel rub when it was Kim's service game.

When these sisters move on to their gaudy clothing attire and ostentatious jewelry business, I'll enjoy watching full coverage of the remaining field. To each I say, "GOOD RIDDANCE."

Am so proud of Kim

She's really got it together this summer. She hung in there and pulled it out. I'm really proud of her, she's worked through her injuries, and she's really giving it everything she's got.

I really hope she wins the open, would love to see her win a slam. Way to go Kim

Hi Joyce! I totally agree with you. Venus clearly employed gamesmanship in taking a very long time to towel off between points. She did it on a couple of occasions, I'm sure to give Kim the time to think too much and choke. A warning should have been issued from the chair umpire and then a penalty given, if repeated. BTW, Venus received a few favorable line calls during the match which were not replayed. I could confirm them with my dvr features via Dishnetwork. Despite those bad calls, in favor of Williams, Kim won.

Venus is just as bad as Serena in terms of excuses and lack of class. They are a couple of sore losers and cannot accept defeat from white players. They have been brought up by their racist father who wears that racism on his sleeve. They are bad for the sport in their lack of graciousness, arrogance, etc. Who would want their kids to emulate them in showing disrespect for their opponents on and off the court? I knew how bad Venus was when she first emerged on the wta. She was known to barely acknowledge her opponents at the net after matches. She would aim at opponents when they were at the net too. Serena displayed her true colors early too when she refused to shake Mary Jo Fernandez's hand after MJ beat her. Arantxa Sanchez Vicario also stated that in a match against Serena, Serena intentionally swung her racquet at her head when she was at the net. She moved out of the way just in time to avoid the blow. She even stated that all the players were aware of the disrespect from both venus and serena. Those sisters became better players but not better people. It would be great to have the media discuss their behavior frankly and remind us all of their poor sportsmanship. It has been an issue since the sisters made their debut on the wta tour. The media won't discuss it because of polical correctness which has gone too far. I will never forget the things they have done and said. I am very happy they have been eliminated from the US Open.

The truth is that Kim, realizing how many errors she had been producing until that moment, started indeed to take off from the speed of the ball and even shorten their length, for a good while in the middle of the match, in order to make sure the balls get in.

The fact that Venus couldn't reply to a change in opponent's tactics shows what's her real range.

Venus & Serena think the game of tennis consist of power and pace. Slice, top spin, lob, and taking something off the ball is foreign to them. Their mindset is, I can hit it harder than you.

This match demonstrated the tactic doesn't work against a smart, all court tennis player.

That's very true. When Kim settled down and started thinking clearly she changed her tactics and played a little safer. She knew she was giving the match away with unforced errors. She did the smart thing. There was certainly nothing "weird" about those shots, as venus stated. She just didn't like that Kim wasn't giving her the errors or the pace and depth that she wanted. Kim mixed up her play, reigned in the power, kept the ball controlled and then, when the opportunity came, she let the ball rip hard. We have all done it. It's called using your head.

Amen my brother! Amen!

Oh and everyone should regularly read http://www.tennis-x.com/
Very good site. Almost every day they mention something ridiculous that Serena or Venus said or did. Their commentary at the bottom of their daily article is often priceless.

to all the other posts so far... i agree. kimmy needs to focus these last two matches, i think that she can beat sharapova and davenport in the final (which would be bad for lindsey, how many GS finals would that be that she's lost in the final? almost as many as kim:)) and yes i wish that williams's would just stop and give credit for a moment. venus said the same thing after kimmy beat her in stanford... if i was on my game i'd kill you. kimmy had this look on her face like what the hell man? can i get a little credit.

great match with some good rallies but to many UE's. clean it up and get it on kimmy, the title is yours, go and get it!

The commentators didn't say a word. Someone else they wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole was the fact Venus' attire was inappropriate for a world class tennis match. Toward the end of the second set the form-fitting dress was drenched with sweat and sticking to her body. Now only was it uncomfortable it restricted her movement and breathing.

Since she is vain and choose style over substance she had to deal.

Thanks, tennissavy, for the astute reply. You made me recall one of VWilliams' early matches when, on changing sides, she deliberately crashed into her opponent (Nastasse's (oops on spelling?) pupil, I believe, but I cannot recall her name). Well, as you aptly noted, they're out of the US Open now. Best wishes . . . I'm off to work!

Irina Spirlea was the gal. I was glad that she didn't yield to venus during that push. I got the funny feeling the two of them were b i t c h e s and coincidentally got confrontational at the same time. I felt bad that spirlea lost because venus had already shown her true colors before that match.

Have a good day at work.
