Comparing Federer and Nadal and Tournament Titles

Most titles won in 3 consecutive years
Federer - 34
Nadal - 22

Most titles won in 5 consecutive years
Federer - 49
Nadal - 35

Interesting that since 2008,
Federer - 21
Nadal - 27

Of course, of Federer's 21, 4 were grand slams, whereas, of Nadal's 27, 8 were grand slams.

I would have expected Nadal to have won far more titles than Federer considering it has been his prime and Federer's slump.

interesting stat

injuries slow down nadal's tournament count, he doesnt get enough court time when he's injured so he doesnt play as well. in order to play well he needs to log in court time but not too much because he might get injured. the paradox of rafa.

plus, there are more surfaces on tour that suit federer's game as opposed to surfaces on tour that suit nadal's, although they are all becoming more and more homogenized.

an itnteresting stat that supports your data is the year end no.1 count. arguably in the case of nadal and federer, the no.1 player is the one with the most tourney wins in a year, given that nadal and federer play roughly the same number of tournies as well as the same tourneys in general, give or take an atp250 or two. fed has had the year end number 1 for 4 consecutive years, while rafa only one consecutive year. so rafa, by that stat, shouldn't have acquired as many tourneys for 3 consecutive years, let alone 5 since he's never been the best player for 3 consecutive years.

This is rather silly as we know Nadal has been injured more than Federer. His achievements even with injuries are almost as many as Fed's which is even more impressive.

I have to give props to the OP you just come up with some fantastic stats always, I see your name at the thread title I know it's going to be an interesting point.

I also realized that. Very interesting thread.

34 titles in 3 years from a guy who has passed his prime at least 5 years. Awesome.

There must be like 6-7 straight finals stopped by Djokovic until Monte Carlo
this year. Of course 3 of them slams.

By the way, AFAIK, Nadal broke Agassi's master title record, by age of
something like 23 or 24 ? Ridiculous stats considering Agassi played until 36
or 37(?). Also another evidence that current tour surfaces so homogenized
that top players take them all.
