Comparing Federer and Nadal by surface

A good way to compare players is to break down from their best surface to their worst. There is no such thing as carpet today so that leaves us with only 3 real surfaces- clay, grass, and hard courts.


Best surface for both Federer and Nadal- Nadal on clay >>>> Federer on grass. No contest here.

2nd best surface for both- Federer on hard courts >>> Nadal on grass or hard courts. Again no contest here.

3rd best surface for both- Nadal on grass or hard courts >>>> Federer on clay. Yet again no contest at this point.

Nadal is in fact better on 2 of the 3.

Clay - Ralph has 8 slams, Fed has 1

Grass - Fed has 7 slams, Ralph has 2

In the real world Nadal is being crowned by slew of experts, writers, and ex champions as GOAT and Federer is becoming an afterthought who isnt even best of his own era anymore. Very cruel indeed, yet indicating that people are probably quite in line with my logical way of thinking in this case too.

Federer's worst surface isn't clay. In terms of pure stats, maybe, but his record is very very good. He basically reached every final to lose to Nadal, not to mention he grew up on clay.

Not to mention, that is a lousy and weighted way of determining GOATiness. A perfect example of how a bad method can produce absolute gibberish.

such a stupid argument. federer leads in slam count at both HC and grass and all of a sudden nadal is better than him on 2/3 surfaces? talk about idiocy... this is even worse than the weak era argument
