Comparisons between Toroline Caviar and Mayami Tour Hex?

I'm going to hit with Toroline Caviar 16L this weekend. Curious if anyone has played with it and Mayami Tour Hex. Any preferences? Is Caviar a little more crisp/stiffer of the two?

Both strings are about a medium on the crisp/stiffness scale with Caviar playing a tad crisper. In my experience Caviar had more pop than TH, but TH definitely had more control. Both have similar feel, spin, and bite with TH having slightly better pocketing. Both very comfortable. I've been playing TH regularly for the past 2 months and i'm really liking it a lot. My only concern with TH is the rather low power so I'm going to experiment with gut mains/TH crosses and see how that goes.

Thanks for the feedback. TH sounds like a good string. I hit with a full-bed of Caviar the other day for a few hours. It felt good but I'm thinking about using it as a cross & something a little more crisp/stiffer in the mains (maybe Solinco Confidential, etc.). However, I'll probably test out a full-bed of Caviar at higher tension as well.

I've played with the Caviar 1.20 and Tour Hex 1.23 at 52-53 lbs, albeit on different rackets so my experiences may not be the most comparable. Agree that the Caviar plays a little crisper compared to the Tour Hex so far. I need to play with both a little longer on the same racket to make a proper judgement but I like the feel of Tour Hex a little more (so far).

Anyone found the Tour Hex to be super underpowered?

I experimented Mayami Tour Hex mains with Tecnifibre Multifeel at 48/51 vs Genesis Hexonic Power mains with Tecnifibre Multifeel at 48/51.
Both setups are on the new Percept 100D. Both are difficult to be aggressive on court, but the lack of power is even more obvious on the Tour Hex.

Does the Tour Hex work better on an even lower tension such as 45lbs?

I've said it before on other Tour Hex threads but this is probably the lowest powered poly I have ever used, which is probably why it has outstanding control.

Yea.. thanks for reconfirming. Being a female playing in a mixed gender singles league, using Tour Hex really stacks me with more disadvantages :( I really want to work with the string but, sigh.

Maybe try a hybrid with TH in the mains and a multi or syn guy in the crosses. You'll more than likely get the great spin and control of the TH with some more pop.

My setup is already hybrid with a multifilament and it's still super underpowered.

I really enjoyed Tour Hex at 46lbs in my Pro Kennex 7G (27.5in, 100in, 16x20 frame). Did not find it underpowered. Well, at least compared to the extra low power stuff I've tried like Isospeed greyfire, Signum Pro Firestorm, and Kirschbaum Orange.

What racket are you playing with?

If you re-read the thread, Valerie mentions she's using the Percept 100D.

@Valerie - I would try MSV Hepta Twist 1.20 in White or Red (Black plays ever-so-slightly more muted and dead). Hepta Twist (7-sided, twisted) is a softer and higher-powered sibling to Focus Hex, which is itself very comparable to Mayami Tour Hex. If you wanted to stick with a hexagonal shape, I would also try MSV Focus Hex Ultra, also in 1.20, in White. FHU is slightly softer than Focus Hex Soft, also higher powered. Both HT and FHU should be a good fit for the 100D, providing a slightly higher power curve than both Tour Hex and Hexonic Power, and 1.20 gauge should give a nice balance of pocketing, trampoline, ball bite, enough control and also a bit less face weight and swing weight, enhancing maneuverability.

Interesting ideas. I have some Mayami Hepta Power and Magic Twist on the way of being delivered (it's a shared purchase among a few of us). Which one would you say is closest to your ideas? Will experiment accordingly.
