Conspicuously absent last night: US Open Champions...

I watched the US Open tribute to the past US Open champions and me and my wife noticed that some people weren't there....

Men:

Arthur Ashe
Manuel Orantes
Ken Rosewall
Jimmy Connors
Pete Sampras
Stefan Edberg
Andre Agassi
Patrick Rafter
Lleyton Hewitt

Women:

Margaret Court
Hana Mandlikova
Steffi Graf
Aranxa Sanchez-Vicario
Martina Hingis
Justine Henin
Kim Clijsters

I'm sure they couldn't have gotten everyone to come....

Arthur Ashe, obviously, but his wife and daughter were there. Hewitt with his hip surgery, Henin with her recent retirement, Hingis with her recent issues....

Some people have gone reclusive like Rafter and Connors......

Some have young kids like Agassi, Graf, Sampras, Clijsters......

Anyway, it was a nice tribute.

more surprised Agassi Connors, and Sampras did not make the trip after all the support that they enjoyed.
Also maybe I just missed it but I do not remember seeing Courier there either.

Also Gaby Sabitini still looks absolutely stunning :)

Courier never won a U.S. Open.

Agreed.

Ashe had a previous engagement to attend a very important meeting in an undisclosed location. Other notable attendees at the meeting included Don Budge, Pancho Gonzales, Bobby Riggs and Vitas Gerulaitis.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a system by which they, as a committee, could overrule the Shot Spot system and, thereby, add a fail safe element to the existing contested call system.

Sabatini's hotter than alot of the current WTA players.

Sabatini was hotter than MOST of the WTA players during her day. Guys used to talk about how manly her shoulders were but they're nothing compared to Sharapova's or Serena's.

just read this:

Name the former U.S. Open champion who wasn't even invited to participate in the Opening Night Ceremony. Answer: Martina Hingis. Under her absurd ITF ban she is prohibited from even attending official tennis functions. (This was the same rule that kept the then-suspended Guillermo Canas from watching his girlfriend play several years ago.)

I heard that Jimmy van Allen is not really dead, he's just boycotting the event for play tiebreaks in the fifth.
