I know that the thread title doesn't appeal to everyone, especially since Koellerer never won the Real Slam. But as we've come to learn on TTW, nothing matters as much as peak form and H2H. Thus I found it surprising that Koellerer's name isn't mentioned among the GOAT candidates. Not only does he share the four last letters of his surname with the falsly presumed GOAT... Federer, but he also leads the second set H2H against Del Potro. And that H2H lead came at no other tournament than the 2009 US Open - the tournament where peak Del Potro dispatched young Nadal and Federer in consecutive matches.
Koellerer's 6-3 win in the second set makes me wonder what the Austrian could have pulled off against the likes of the Big 4... it's a scary thought. Maybe he wanted to spare us of those images since it would turn the entire TTW GOAT debate on its head. He retired in style back in 2011, winning his last tournament, a Future tournament in the Czech Republic without even dropping a single set!
Koellerer's name can also be spelled as Koellr.
