Who in your opinion has better overall groundstrokes?
Davydenko hits the ball very cleanly, while Del Potro has incredible and effortless power from both wings.

i'd say Del Potro from what i saw during the US Open.

Davydenko is a more clean striker as you say, I'd say his groundstrokes are overall better, but Del Potro has something that Davydenko doesnt, probably a more solid gameplan.

I think Delpo is a very clean ball striker too,and solely based on what I've seen from him in these few months, his groundstrokes do more damage and less unforced errors than Davy's high risk high reward style of play. Both have excellent groundstrokes though,I'd just rate Delpo's a little higher due to such power he has demonstrated.

I'd agree with this. Davy may have an edge in the Australian heat, but overall Delpo's forehand can overpower most players.

I agree. I saw that match live from the second row.

Truely amazing stuff by Dayvdenko.
No matter how hard Del Potro hit, Davydenko took the ball on the rise and redirected it. Towards the end of it JMDP had a very desperate look on his face.

Del Potro for sure. Davydenko has great technique, but Del Potro's physical gifts allow him to hit the ball with more power and much better consistency. Not sure what happened at the WTF....Del Potro seemed very out of sorts there.

I think against each other, Dayvdenko's got the edge. But against the field JMDP is better, he can create pace more consistently, Dayvdenko on the other hand is very good at handling pace.

Great question... Davydenko has cleaner strokes and better technique, but Del Potro gets more mileage out of his strokes because of the amount of power he gets on the ball. I had to go with Del Potro on account of how far his strokes have gotten him, but I would use Davydenko as a better teaching model.

Davydenko has good angles with groundstrokes and that to me is better than smaking the ball like Delpo. Still Delpo strokes seems to frustrate the best when it is Hard and controlled. Davydenko Groundies when he is on it is great to see like DTL Backhand..

delpo sure does seem clumsy and heavy with his movement because he is so goddamn tall. i am not sure how well he could work on that in the future. but as is obvious delpo has more muscle strength and he's built that to his advantage.
he packs meaty power on his strokes. hits them incredibly well down the line. when the pressure is on his legs freeze and that's when his game gets sloppy.

davydenko's game is all about creating insane angles. his movement is a complete contrast to delpo. swift and fluid, almost effortless. at the moment, davydenko seems like the obvious choice, given his recent victory at the YEC but i will still go ahead with delpo because he's young and that rock solid forehand will soon be impregnable

Who the heck voted for Davy? DelPo does amazing things with the ball and just crushes it. DelPo has far superior ground strokes and that is one of the reasons he can beat Roger and Davy can't.
