Difference between Gut/Multi and full bed multi ?

My gut/multi lasted about 4 hours before losing tension to unplayable.
Was about to restring just the multi cross, like I did last time

Then I thought, what about full bed multi?
What will be the biggest differences?

People seem to like full multi. I for one don't care much for for full multi or full gut for that mater. To me those strings perform better when partnered with something slick as a cross but that may be just my personal preference.

You mentioned that your strings lost tension and became unplayable after 4 hours. This means you should string higher. I string my multis at 55-57 and NG at 58-59. The multis settle at around 50-52 after a few hours of play.

If you’re worried the initial tension might cause an injury, just let the string lose tension for 1-2 days before you use the racket.

I also string my FB multi at 58, because I like how it plays at 55-56. If I string at 56 it loses too much tension and becomes a trampoline (to me, everyone has a different perspective.) And this is with Head Velocity which has good tension maintenance.

To answer OP's original question, NG/Multi will feel softer than FB Multi assuming same tension. The NG is less stiff and since it is installed as mains, you will definitely feel that softness.

…but NG as mains should yield more than 4 hours without going to the graveyard…. I mean, RF wouldn’t think so but mortals could restring crosses.
