Djokovic Will Win the Grand Slam in 2015

It's an I told you so thread, if it does happen which it probably won't, the op looks like a genius and if it doesn't nobody ever sees this thread again.

Except the OP doesn't look like a genius at all, even if it does happen. Predictions are pure luck, they have nothing to do with genius.

I just have to say it's going to be a massive bummer if Djokovic finally gets the French and loses at Wimbledon and Flushing Meadows. Ah well.

I predict 2 slams for Nole this year.

Judging from the SF against Wawrinka, he still needs to toughen up mentally and take the fight to his opponent.

It was depressing to watch him fail to capitalize on so many double and triple breakpoints.

His defense is awesome, but he also needs some "Wawrinka spirit" on the offensive end.

All right, Djoko needs 1 more slam to prove me right.

But he's got to get his consistency back. All those backhands (even forehands at times) into the net against Wawrinka and Murray. Those have to be corrected.

Funny how this happens every year. The guy winning the AO is always going to win CYGS as well. Even last year, Stan was seriously said to be a lock for CYGS 2014 :-D Hilarious.

On a serious note, though. If someone's ever gonna do it, it ought to be Novak, and he ought to do it within a couple of years; preferably this year, as I see some worrying signs that 2015 will go down in history as one of the weakest years ever in terms of depth and general quality on tour..

At the same time though: The fact that he's allowed to make that many errors, being slightly rusty, but still walk away with the title fairly comfortably in the end. That certainly says a lot about what he's capable of.

Even if he wins the FO this year he won't get the Grand Slam. It's just way too much to ask from a player today. It's not only because of Federer, Murray or Nadal. Every Top20 player could prevent him from reaching a final.

Of course. Talk is cheap. That's why I wish all the people who make ridiculous predictions had to pay to make them.

Wow. Very nice thread!

The biggest Laver fan on the board has got his jinx in early with the marginal threat of Novak breathing down Laver's neck.

Smart plays, smart plays.

So, Novak for the CYGS then?

No it wouldn't, it would then be his best year since 2011.
And the AO-RG double has not been done since Jim Courier in 1992.

I agree, too many variables in the last 2 Slams of the year to nab both.

He has only won 1 slam so far. Theres still a long way to go........ He could lose all of the next 3.

I want to see how nervous hoodjem gets if Nole can get close to pulling it off, only to gloat when he falls short to Federer at the US Open in 5 sets (Roger Federer vs. Reality - let me have this one).

If that means djokovic for sure winning the first 3 slams of this year. Then sure you can take USO

If he did win it this year, where would you rank him in the all time list?

I don't know tbh. I would like to see the numbers at the end of his career.

But winning the CYGS would be big. Probably the biggest year in tennis history. He would get stadiums named after him, balls named after him, tennis would change name to ''djokovic'', statues etc. It would be like a new life for Novak Djokovic, and big for Serbia as a nation.

Nevertheless, if i'm gonna guess, if he takes the CYGS this year, he would definetly be top 4 right away in ATG list.

All of the sudden I am so determined for djokovic to win the CYGS!!! But I know its unlikely

This is Djokovic's big year, and his best chance to win a Grand Slam.

Fed is aging and erratic.
Nadal is injured and rehabilitating.
Murray is lethargic and psychologically weak.
Wawrinka was a one-slam wonder.
Everyone else is playing at a lower level.

Nole is playing strong, consistently, and is a defensive bulldog.

Can anyone challenge Nole?

Fed has been aging and erratic for tha past 4 years.
Nadal is always injured and rehabbing.
Murray has always been lethargic and psychologically weak.
Wawrinka has pushed Djokovic to five sets in 4 of the last 5 HC majors.
Several of the top 10-15 players are as good or better than they've ever been.

So, in summary, nothing has changed with his Big 4 peers. Wawrinka is still dangerous, if inconsistent. And, some of the next tier have improved.

Djokovic may very well win the slam because he is the best player, not because of your flawed logic/analysis.

At least it is a possibility this year, so we can at least entertain the notion for a few more months. We couldn't do that last year when Stan won.

I will be really curious to see how Djokovic performs if he wins the French. I think the losses there in 2012-13 were devastating and carried over costing him in other slams after that. Finding a way to stave off Federer at Wimbledon was huge for him. I think it may have put him back on track in big moments.

Definitely. That's why I am more confident in him winning slams again

If he gets this one out of the way, it's all people will be talking about going into Wimbledon.

How not to believe in jinxing after this thread?? Fed playing like crazy in this and 2017 year, Wawrinka became 3 slam wonder year later

This is Djokovic's big year, and his best chance to win a Grand Slam since 2016.

Fed is super-aging, operated upon, and recuperating.
Nadal is older, broken-down, ground-up, injured, and barely rehabilitating.
Murray is nowhere, playing qualies and ATP 250s.
Wawrinka was a three-slam wonder, but is gradually recovering from an operation.
Delpo is recovering from multiple operations.
Everyone else is too young, psychologically weak, and playing at a lower level.

Nole is the youngest of the big three--playing strong, consistently, and is a defensive bulldog. Can anyone challenge Nole?

Medvedev rises to the occasion! Djokovic wilts.
