As a former competitive distance runner and tennis player, I think it's great that you are running 5+ miles per day. But especially as I've aged I've decided that distance running isn't a great way to train for tennis. It beats up your body over time, and you get more value out of strength training (especially core- and balance-oriented stuff) and intense intervals than you do out of pounding out miles. Now I use non-impact stuff like the stairmaster, bike, cross-trainer, or pool to build up a cardio base and save the running for shorter, faster intervals. My legs feel better and I play better that way. You can also do some intense whole body cardio intervals with things like up-down planks and ropes instead of doing all leg-oriented cardio.
Base building is meant to be primarily an every-off-season way to run for athletic training purposes. Maintenance doses only in-season, combined with those other sorts of fitness work.

Not just a mix, but the right mix, at the right time, makes all the difference in the world.

Why do people eat good food or drink nice beverages? They cost money, can get by just raw vegetables and water. Why live in a nice house? Humanity survived in caves for millions of years. Car, tv and the list is endless.

Enough with stupid, inapplicable comparisons. :) I have explained the logic multiple times.
But here it is again.

There is no alternative to good food, is there? You have no choice but to pay for good food if you can afford and want it.

For paid adult recreational coaching, what is it about it that there is no alternative to?

So far I have heard "fun" "organized schedule" "workout" but all of these can be obtained without said paid coaching.

There's probably some secret effective systematic training method, tricks of the trade in paid coaching, that you wouldn't find anywhere else, which I am not hearing anyone saying, that is worth the expensive cost. If that's the case, then yes, more power to you. Anyone who can afford should take up paid coaching to get the edge.

Assuming the coach is a quality coach, what he or she will teach the student is the fundamental elements of each stroke and offer is a critical eye to identity where the student's technique is breaking down. There are too many instances where a player thinks they are doing what pros do and never realizing what they do doesn't remotely resemble the pro technique at all. A quality coach will show you the flaws in your mind's eye and how to fix them.

Alternative to good food is not so good food.
It's enough to sustain healthy life.

Alternative to coaching is self taught lessons. We know that it takes time and toll on health to learn without the wisdom of a trained mind.

And beer/liqueur is 'good food' that you can't live without? Can't have fun without liqueur? Are you perchance oblivious to the lack of logic in your own comparisons?
