does Kei use wrist snap instead of arm rotation?

Have to say that this comparison is pretty good, in the video.
I would also add one more thing : Kei doesnt have a height for the amount of aggressiveness he tries to produce. Thats a very important thing when calculating how much you can ask from your serve (speed, rpm, flight etc)

Chang taught him this. Chang was criticized for years when he went to the extended racket and trying to serve big. Chang's first serve percentage dropped too low.

I checked Ferrer's stats after a Wimbledon match last year and his average 1st serve speed was 112 mph. Kei should try to average about the same as Ferrer and get a high percentage in. Ferrer's 2nd serve speed was in the 90s which is good too.

If you are 5' 10" or under, I think 110-114 mph is about the sweet spot for average 1st serve speed.

Didn't JohanKriek average his first serves in the low 120's? His tops were in the mid 130 range. Of course, he's not an average build 5'9" player.
If you try to serve hard, like swing full out, you will find your wrist follows thru with your pronation, so thumb down, but wrist flexed. It doesn't mean the wrist is snapped, it's HINGED.

I havent watched Kei that much (wasnt interested) and I cant* compare pre/post Chang era. Make sense to me (what you said)
I think Kei could do a bit better then Ferer. just my oppinion

but the fact is : if you are 6' and above, you dont need gravity for your serve !!! Now, every1 should take that seriously when deciding what to do/go/train/develop/aim with the serve

..and maybe short guys should consider more of a pistol grip, so the racket aligns with the forearm, making for the longest possible reach....maybe...

There was a televised private practice on Nishikori serve prior to his WTF 2014 semis match with Novak.

Chang was watching while the 3rd man giving advice to Kei and doing a hand chop like putting spin on top of the ball and away. Then he kind of pointing to the resulting bounce to go farther to the left of opponent.

It was the time the Bryan Bros doubles finals were about to start.

Wrist snap leading to impact or in the follow through?

I think that his wrist snap is part of the follow through, maybe because he did not seem to do as much ISR. ? On the Wawrinka comparison, 2:09, I believe that that Nishikori has less maximum external shoulder rotation than Wawrinka.

During the Masters in London, the announcers were saying that Wawrinka was about 4th or 5th place among servers in some important stat such as first serves won but I'm not sure anymore. ? The servers ahead of him were the well-known big name servers.

Very informative analysis and clearly presented.
