Does Uniqlo regret losing Novak now?

Maybe they got it from this... however I'm not sure I'm willing to put all of my faith into something called The Motley Fool.
https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/07/03/uniqlo-lands-roger-federer-with-a-300-million-cont.aspx
I read something more legit about his previous Nike contract value and the guestimate of his new contract. It was nowhere near the $ indicated on TW. Actually the current contract was guestimate less per year but guaranteed for 10 years fixed rate where as Nike was going to be performance based, so no Majors no No1 no Play = Not a lot of $$$.
Anadoctally I don't see much RF gear being sold. Not sure his worth as a clothing endorser. Racquet, yes not just in RF97 but pro Staff and shoes yes..coukd be just location based anomony.

If Djokovic even matched Federer's major count Uniqlo still made the right move. Nothing Djokovic ever does will make him as big an icon as Federer is globally.

It's not just about achievements, it's about a whole bunch of boxes which Federer ticks that Djokovic doesn't.

Novak doesnt seem especially connected to his sponsors for all that long. I dont really blame him, as is he can move along to whomever offers the best deal for him at that time. Uniqlo was a good fit for him at that time as he was moving into more classic looks but with modern color blocking. Now with Lacoste he is with a company the just gives off class, this will allow him to age nicely in this deal. His appeal wont just be what his results are on the court as they were with Uniqlo and most of his previous sponsors. Now the product matters as much as the results, plus I have to assume his sponsor commitments are better for him with Lacoste than with Uniqlo. At least for how he carries himself. To me Novak is a European star, with other markets knowing of him to be sure but without his name having the same punch a Roger Federer does for example. Roger by name clout alone can get Uniqlo products in the closets of alot of people in alot of different markets (cultures).

That is at least how I read it I could be wildly off base which is likely, haha.

my guess is uniqlo sold more federer gear in last 2-3 mo. than djokovic his whole time there...lol
when fed signed, they even had presales before the clothing even became available

Nike fires Fedr and keeps Nadal.

It tells alot.

Basically they dont make the sales Uniqlo do, I dont like either Nike or Uniqlo but
see everyone from OS and locals buying from Uniqlo. I would prefer to adorn myself
with Lacoste as would many tennis lovers that prefer class over propaganda.
The majority of the population is really mainstream and support Uniqlo cause its Japanese
and Loja Fedela (not racist statement thats in reality how they pronounce him everywhere in Asia)
is very well loved in all of Asia and thats the winner for Uniqlo and the old goat

I hope that’s a joke. Ridiculous.

Back to the topic. No. For all we know Djokovic wanted a lot of money too. Uniqlo may have also been turned off by the rumors about his offcourt behavior.

Maybe you was a lucky one.
Novak was quite long with Uniqlo and many items were made. But I could not get of his stuff, Uniqlo stores at my location do not sell any tennis collections.
I bought Djokovic and Nishikori apparel only at big flagship Uniqlo store in Paris during RG, actually before and in the very beginning, the collections were sold out very quickly.

I suspect the value of a clothing deal to a company like Uniqlo may not be as great as some think. The real marketing power is basketball shoes because it's a bigger overall market, and you're dealing with a younger and much more impressionable customer base looking for role models. So yes, a LeBron or a Jordan can be worth lots of money to a company. But shirts and shorts, as in a Uniqlo deal, marketing to a tennis crowd that's mostly older and not looking so much for role models, require a company to be a bit more judicious in how much they spend on a player deal. I wonder if Uniqlo overspent on Roger and whether they may regret that, especially if he's started his fade into relative oblivion.

Huh?
Novak has won 7 slams, including 4 in a row, and had an arguably best season ever, wearing Uniqlo.

This afternoon I was at a recently opened Uniqlo store at a local big mall... The store was full, mostly Asian people, they have a huge population in this area.
I didn't look around too much, but it was mostly casual clothes. Pretty good quality and nice, somewhat more expensive then Old Navy that used to be there before.

RF DRY-EX POLO SHIRTS
RF DRY KNEE-LENGTH SHORTS

SOLD OUT

I was actually rendering to RF brand Other than at Major I don't see RF branded gear.
Other than a Japanese national I don't see Uniglo at all and he's importing from JP. Uniglo is very location based

When I first saw it I thought it was Uni QLD, university of Queensland.
Sold out doesn't mean high sales especially with Japanese products they have been using artificial scarsity to drive price and demand for years in tech industry.

I dont know why companies dont see djokovic as being as marketable as fed and nadal. Adidas must be smoking crack to let asics steal him. Whatever made adidas execs think that the worlds fastest, best hardcourt sliding, and possibly Goat tennis player wearing adidas shoes wasnt a collossal marketing statement for adidas, who knows.

When it comes to marketing, the adidas tennis team is not as sharp as it should be. That's too bad as I love the 3 stripe brand. And not only they missed out to have another W and USO title, they allowed asics to become a major brand in tennis.

Whether or not Federer is the GOAT most people outside of tennis only think of him...

well, I just made my first ever UQ order. I was mistaken about them in one aspect. Their stores in SF and Walnut Creek CA only carry small sizes. XS S M L and maybe if you're lucky an XL or two. I have dismissed them for this reason. However, due to The Federer Effect, I just took the plunge and my wife ordered a bunch of stuff as sizes avail online are much larger! Up to 3X. I mean, who wears an XS? Anyway, among the items, a sweatshirt, down jacket, I forget what else, I got the zip front hoodie with the front chest pocket the GOAT wore...I ordered two of everything to their whacked sizing. All Fed stuff long gone.

I’m pretty sure that Novak didn’t feel so special because Unilqo didn’t offer him more money. That’s why RF was happy to accept it. Move on guys.
