Anyone other than me get way more "intense" in doubles?

I am not a very intense person at all, if I am not playing a competitive match I really don't feel any emotion at all just trying to have fun with my friends. If I am playing a competitive singles match I really do not feel much emotion at all (I enjoy singles more than doubles) when I get into a doubles match its a bunch different for me, I mean to say I don't go crazy and scream like an idiot but on a big break I do tend to give a loud "come on!" or something that sort. I don't know, maybe its just because the points are so quick or what not but does this ever happen to anyone else?

maybe you feel more responsible when you have a partner because he is your teammate and you don't want to let him down...

Probably has to do with the fact that doubles is a team sport. Kind of like watching the Ryder cup team golf vs. a regular match. The guys get pretty pumped up and feed off each other when they are teamed up.

Nothing against the warriors in singles land, but I find that at even moderately developed levels of play between rather even opponents, the doubles is always more intense. At the US Open, I'll ooh-and-ahh once every game or two watching a good singles match, but for doubles, I get a steady diet of it. Close quarters combat with maximum aggression and supernatural reflexes on every darn point! What could be better??!!

Winning in doubles requires aggression. I think that's what you're feeling. Points end quickly, aggressive moves yield dividends. You're smacking the ball right at your opponent, you're crashing the net, you're physically closer to your opponents as you try to manhandle them.

Doubles *is* more intense than singles, IMHO, so I'm not surprised by what you report.

Doubles is more intense on the human / drama side than singles for sure because it involves ..more people. It's even much more intense when the players are lousy at interpersonal relation. LOL.

Singles is much more physically and game-mentally intense. There's no rest with singles and you're responsible for everything.

Yes, exactly. That's what I meant by "intense." I'm talking about the mental, interpersonal side of it, which is what is causing the OP to act differently in doubles.
