Durability: Big Ace 18 vs Big Ace Micro

How does the durability compare beteween the Big Ace 1.22 and Micro 1.15? None of my customers are really big hitters but I don't want to buy the Micro if it will break much sooner than the Big Ace 1.22.

Big Ace 1.22 vs Big Ace micro in hybrid.

I have the Big Ace (1.22) as mains in a hybrid setup, that I had for a while.
I also have another one (same racquet) strung with Big Ace micro as mains in a hybrid. This is very recent stringing.

I am finding that the Ace (1.22) pockets the ball better than the micro.
The micro feels stiffer (less ball pocketing), but I get more spin due to the combination of stiffness and thinner guage.
I have not played with the micro longer due to weather conditions. This is my first impression of the micro. Maybe later, when I get to play more with micro setup, I'll have a better review.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for this thread. I have BA 1.22 in one of my racquets and have been wondering about Micro 1.15.

I appreciate your comments. They make a lot of sense. Were the two hybrids strung at the same tension?

Yes, please give us your further impressions when you've played more with the micro setup.

Anybody with more information. I know this sounds really stupid, but would anyone choose the Big Ace 1.22 because of the colour choices? As I understand the Micro 1.15 has much better playing characteristics.

There is also 1.17 available, so if you went for colour choice, go for that over the micro

I understand what you mean about the colour choices but I personally think the 1.22 plays much better than the 1.17 or micro. The power level is higher on the 1.22 so the control is not as good but I like the spin I get off of the 1.22 and the stringbed is firmer as well.

I'm getting ready to play today with a set of BA 1.25 for the first time in over a year so I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes. I've also got a set of the 1.28 BA as it's a good bit stiffer than the 1.25-much more so than the 3mm would indicate.

^^^You are correct :) I do think the 1.28 plays much stiffer than that small difference would make one think-I notice it even more on Blue Gear.

What's the pattern on the AG100? Is it an 18X20?
