I just bought the racquet and like it a lot. Unfortunately my elbow gets worse evry time I play with it. It's strung with Gosen Super Micro 17 at 60 lbs. Should I try ematrix 17 at 55 lbs before giving up? Or am I hurting from the high SW? My other racquets are POG OS and Babolat Pure Storm MP and my arm is fine adter playing with either of them. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Well, assuming you use the same string in all your sticks, it's obvious the Bab is causing the problem. Personally, i would never use a Bab, they are way too stiff, and cause too many injuries for my liking. You just have to read these boards to see that.

I used to the Pure Drive for a while until my elbow hurt so bad that I couldn't play. I tried to use other strings but it didn’t work for me. You can always try another string, but if that doesn’t fix things sell it. Trust me don’t try to play through the pain because all it dose is get worse.

My Roddick PD +'s are hurting my elbow too. I have never experienced any arm problems until I started using this racquet. I have tried tinkering with the strings - but no luck. Anyone on the market for two of these elbow killers?

I mentioned in my other post that I currently play with the Roddick Pure Drive Plus and that I've been experiencing elbow problems that I've never had before. I tried switching strings and it didn't help so I decided to switch racquets. I opted for the Prince Turbo Shark. This racquet was supposed to be Prince's answer to the Pure Drive. They have roughly the same specs, except the stiffness rating is WAY lower. Plus, they're being discontinued so they're dirt cheap. I picked up two for $86.95 each (2 months ago they were $149 each) off another website. They also come with free stringing with any Prince string. I opted for the Prince Premier w/ Softflex because of its reputation for being arm friendly.

So basically I'll take a huge hit on my babolats (they're on the major auction site right now!) to try to save my elbow. I'll let you know how it works out.

I just started playing with the PD Roddick (regular) and I love it. I was playing with a POG and bought a used AeroPro Control before the PDR. I stopped hitting the gym and the POG felt too heavy playing matches in the summer heat. The swing weight felt too heavy at times. I did notice a dampened feel as the ball comes off the strings but there is nice spin on the ball. I'm finding myself hitting the lines and the racquet keeping the ball in.

I have not had any shoulder or tennis elbow problems since the switch (about a week now). The racquet has a little more power and doesn't require as much work in my opinion. I added 4.5" (2 strips) of lead to 1:00 on the head. I find it gave the racquet head a little more feel. I swing pretty hard, but my problem came on getting short shots back and wanting a stiff racquet but something that had a little more pop. It does feel like I have to slow my swing down a little to get a good feel and nail the sweetspot on groundstrokes

I have heard alot of the PD being unforgiving. One thing I did notice is how huge the grip sizes are. The first one I bought was a 4.5, and I got a 2nd one in 4 3/8. I haven't hit with the 3/8 yet. The Babolat 4.5 is too big. I can't even use overgrip on it. I string with Technifibre NRG17. I did a NRG (mains)/VS (crosses) hybrid they popped after 4 days of hitting.

I would like to thank everybody who replied to my post: lots of great suggestions. I've played 3 times with the racquet since my last post. First time was with the same strings but I added an extra vibration dampener and tried my best to relax and keep my elbow tucked in on fh. I also used an elbow brace. Surprisingly it felt much much better. It was very encouraging and I went ahead and restrung the racquet with e-matrix 17 at 57 lbs. Played two times with the new strings, without the elbow brace and with the same two vibration dampeners. Also tried my best to stay relaxed hitting the ball. The elbow feels pretty good, not 100% like after playing with POG OS but much better than after my first 3 hits with the racquet when I had a sharp pain. I've also been doing some elbow excersises which must've helped a bit too. So, I still like the racquet very much and hope I'll be able to play with it. Thanks again, Vlad
