ESPN sucks

I hate ESPN and I call it the football channel, for obvious reasons. Whenever I turn it on they have some middle-aged jackasses arguing at the top of thier lungs about pointless football statistics and predictions. And most other programs that are shown appeal to football fans. Any other sport that would go past an alloted time would be shown untill it was done (footbal, baseball, basketball) but as soon as tennis starts to go over 2 hours it gets cut off so that we can see sports center for the 15th time that day! ESPN2 is not as bad, but for some stupid reason it is not included in the cable package we get in our dorms. Hell, tbs could show some matches instead of 5 hours straight of the same shows every day (seinfeld, friends). Hasn't the world had enough of these old sitcoms!? It's not fair! AAAHHHHHH

Well it only gets worse with basketball season starting and now they have Stephen A. Smith loudmouthing and instigating all sorts of useless debate. How in the world did this guy get a job with ESPN?! I could babble just as badly as he does!

They want ratings and money, plain and simple. Our country is much more fascinated (for some crazy reason) about football, poker, basketball, etc.

I agree, it's about ratings and that equals advertising revenue. As far as football, basketball, and GOLF as being more popular than tennis, it's because those are the heavy participation sports, or at least many played those first two team sports in high school. Watching pro ball or even college ball allows some to remember their "glory days", when they were 30 pounds lighter and had more hair. But now I am told that NASCAR is the number one "sport" in the USA currently. Chalk that up to America's love of oversized, overpowered vehicles, Hummers, Cadillac Escalade, etc. As for televized poker, tell me that just a fad, please.

Stephen A. Smith = CREEP

SportsCenter

I watched SportsCenter for 38 minutes this morning and there was no mention of the Williams/Sharapova match at all. It wasn't an incredibly busy sport's day and the season ending women's tournament final which had plenty of drama gets relegated to the final 15 minutes. Tennis is secondary even though they broadcasted the event.

He's entertaining but there is no way I can take him seriously with the news he brings to the table. I like it when he dogs the other analyst I don't like though like Marc Stein or when he gets into it with Greg Anthony but sometimes he just comes off as a smartass know-it-all.
