Had it been you on the court instead of Sprem, would you have corrected the umpire or stayed quiet (assuming you were aware that a mistake was made)?

If you answer "yes", do you also confess to your opponent when you see a ball land out that he/she calls in?

Yes, I always play as fair as possible. There's no honor in winning through illegitmate means, even if it isn't me doing the call.

In all my matches I have had few disputes with other players. Even in high school, which was basically hook-city, I was able to level with most players and we could play a fair match. Sometimes other players thought I was cheating them, but to my knowledge I called every ball honestly. I might not have been RIGHT everytime, but I never deliberately fooled anyone either. I'm not all rightous and honorable or anything - it's just what I would like my opponent to do for me.

I have found most people do the same when they learn to trust you. It's a few bad seeds that make everybody untrusting and critical.

Rafter played fair, and I always looked up to him for it. Henman is good about that too.

The way you framed your question, you assumed Sprem knew it was a mistake. Venus didn't know, why would you assume Sprem knew?

Sprem appeared a motion to the umpire. She thought something might be wrong, but when the umpire made no confirming sign she continued play.

In the interview she admitted she was confused, but also very involved in the match and may have forgot the score. I guess she hastily stopped questioning why she had an extra point and focused on her next serve.

There's no way to know if she's lying, or made an honest mistake. But for the questions sake, let's assume she had a hunch.

If you looked at Venus, she looked at the umpire, and confused too - she just didn't get a close up from the camera man like Sprem did, and went to deuce court to receive serve.

I can understand he called 2-2 because of crowd noise etc. after Sprem's first serve fault. The worst part of the mistake was he allowed Sprem to serve at ad court when it was 2-2 which means he wasn't alert or thinking at all at that moment.

He was dreaming at that moment. He was thinking .. "I can't believe she is peeking at me with that sexy look"...

Since when is that the players's responsability to keep track of the score in a major tournament?

Keeping track of the score may not be your responsibility but ethics and morality IS your responsibility!!

I'll be honest, I have no idea what it is to play Wimbledon for a living but I always try to have in mind that most of those girls are not even adults...

Whenever I find myself in a situation where I am competing and something happens to make me question whether I am doing the right thing, I always ask myself, "what would Pete Rose do in this situation." That seems to clear things up for me.
