I thought it'd be interesting to show the progression of the difference in slam count between Federer-Nadal and between Djokovic-Nadal. Every time one of the mentioned players in the comparison wins a slam I updated the number:

Difference in slams between Federer-Nadal:

Random Points:
  • Biggest Difference: 10 Slams
  • Most Common Difference: 3 Slams
  • Amount of Times at 3 Slams: 6 out of 40 times
  • Biggest Slide to Federer: 4 Slams (2003 Wimbledon - 2004 US Open)
  • Biggest Slide to Nadal: 5 Slams (2010 French Open - 2012 French Open)
  • Once Nadal overcame the 3 slam "barrier" he was able to reach Federer without further resistance

Difference in slams between Djokovic-Nadal:

Random Points:
  • Biggest Difference: 8 Slams
  • Most Common Difference: 3 Slams
  • Amount of Times at 3 Slams: 8 out of 37 times
  • Biggest Slide to Djokovic: 6 Slams (2014 Wimbledon - 2016 French Open)
  • Biggest Slide to Nadal: 6 Slams (2008 French Open - 2010 US Open)
  • Similar to how Nadal was having trouble coming within 2 Slams of Federer, Djokovic is having troubles coming within 1 slam of Nadal

3 GS difference for Nadal versus Federer (and 2 GS difference for Djokovic versus Nadal) seems like a resistance range in technical analysis.

Thank you.

When mentioning "back n forth" I noticed a lot of it in the Fedovic rivalry until Djokovic took over...

Here ya go. Little less back n forth than the others. Just realized it could have been perfectly symmetrical if not for the Fed resurgence in 2017

If Federer defeated Djokovic at Wimbledon 2019, he would knock him out (although I think Nadal has achieved it because of what he did in RG 2020) of the fight and put the Spanish in a very bad position; Happily -or unhappily, depending on the glass with which it is viewed- this has made it possible for us to be going towards a tight final sprint of the race, with a tendency to stain red that exhibits the passion of a Gladiator who takes refuge in the Epic to emerge victorious.

the big 3 are close to tied adjusted for age. You can see Novak’s total rising steeply in recent years. Yet many posters seem to think Novak won’t win any more slams
They're predicting a decline, which I think is premature. I see Novak playing a long time, a big reason being because he can just use his flexibility to defend far more efficiently and effortlessly than either Federer or Nadal. But who knows, with Novak if he is even a little off, he is more prone to defeat than the other 2 as well.
