Federer beatdown of John "serve only" Isner in 3rd round thread

Since it looks like Isner will get past Nieminen and get to the 3rd round against Federer, this is a thread to talk about Federer's beatdown of the overhyped American.

It would be pretty impressive if Isner made it that far, when was the last wildcard to reach the 3rd round of the Open? not counting Blake in '05, since he was already top 50 by the time the Open started that year.

Sure he gets to 3rd round but has no chance whatsoever vs. Federer...he gave 7 chances of breaks to Nieminen. Ans he has no way to break Federer's serve. One set might go to tie break but straight three set victory to Federer is my prediction.

The guy has a nice forehand too IMO.
But Roger normally does good against big servers, just look at roddick and karlovic.

Isner has about 10 ATP matches by now ?

It would be very shocking if Isner takes a set or two out of Federer.

But I'm sure we will see a few tiebreakers.

For example, Federer and Karlovic played 8 sets so far and 6 of them was
tiebreakers !!

As far as I've seen Isner really only has a good serve and some decent groundies. You'd think his net game would be good but it really isn't. He screws up alot of volleys.

I didn't get to see the end but I'm guessing he won. Federer in straights.

Don't get ahead of yourselves - Isner still has to win a 2nd-round match to get there. Now, I know it might not seem like too big a deal (especially playing a qualifier, Rik De Voest), but remember that this is just his first Grand Slam - he'll be the favorite in the match, but winning it isn't a done deal.

It would be great for him to even get to the third round - yeah, he'll get beaten down by Federer, but really, so what? So's everybody else in Fed's path. He's living his dream and he's got a great game.
