Federer just won the first set 6-2 and it is 1-1 in the second. Fed isn't looking that hot to me, I don't really know how he won the first set already(didn't really get to see it so if someone would inform me. I would rewind it(I've got tivo) but I prefer to stay with the current scores.)but it seems it should have been a little closer. Again, if someone would give a little more info on the play it would be appreciated.

I gotta tell ya, it seems to me that Hewitt is not very confident that he can beat Fed. He's going for his shots more and that results in more unforced errors. That's why Fed won the first set.

Ok, thanks. And he is getting passed like mad when he is at net. But IMO it is good that he is going for his shots a bit more. And I just now realized that he has added a little more power to his shots.

Important stats so far: Federer 2 sets to love, break in third set. Hewitt, broken four times already, tons of errors...and ZERO "come On's!!!!!" Federer makes it look ridiculously easy to take Hewitt apart. It's really not that easy. Can you imagine if Federer goes on to win the French, Wimbledon and US Open. To know that he was potentially a POINT away from the Grand Slam this year. Wow.

Might want to give a slight assist to Roddick for this one, too. That was a dogfight late into the night last night. Hard to wake up and be ready by 11:30 a.m. PST to have to face a well-rested Federer.

Forget it Hewitt lost.... 6-2 6-4 break in the third for fed...he did have achance against fed's first serve game of the third set...hes struggling to hold serve

1) Federer has to play the qualifying rounds
2) All Federer opponents get a 2-0 lead in each set
3) Federer has to play with a wood racquet
4) Everyone but Federer is allowed to do steroids
5) Roger has to play blindfolded

This MIGHT help. I doubt it, but it might.

I don't really feel sorry for him either but this is why I really hate watching Federer. Nobody seems to know how to beat him and he just beats the crap out of his opponent. IMO it is really boring no matter how many "great" shots Federer makes it is still boring. And again another bad call.

If those rules don't work to stop the Federer Express by the Nasdaq, more stringent ATP rules WILL go in effect, including:

1) Federer will be FORCED to play left-handed and without shoes.
2) He will not be allowed to have strings in his wood racquet.
3) Mirka and all of Roger's family and friends will be tied to electric chairs on court and for every error he hits and game he loses, the voltage will go up slightly until every one of them dies or the match is over and they are saved, whichever comes first.
4) Federer will not be allowed to take planes to tournaments, especially the Grand Slams. He will have to swim or walk to get there. Once at the tournament, he will only be allowed bread and water., and will have to sleep on the street.
5) The "allowable court to hit into" for Federer will be 2 inches by 2 inches.

If these rules do not stop the Federer Express, and a B-2 Bomber will be sent to execute him. If this does not work either, professional men's tennis will be disbanded until Roger Federer dies.

I know. Like I said in another thread, when Hewitt stands in a certain area he looks like just a head and legs because of his shirt.

And what do you guys think, is Federer's play special, boring, or both? I say maybe both.

Only 2 players that can beat Roger

Ljubicic and Safin are the only players to either push or defeat Roger this year. It's a combination of power and solid play.

Hewitt has Federer beat hands down in the girlfriend department. Just because a tournament awarded him a cow for winning it doesn't mean he has to travel with the damn thing.

Sometimes it's just a matchup of respective strengths. And, in that, it's no contest. Federer is as consistent as Hewitt, he's more powerful and he moves about the same. His serve is better, groundies are better, volleys are better. Anything that is tennis-related, with the exception of the hot girlfriend that comes by playing Top 10 tennis, Federer has over Hewitt.
At least Hew can take consolation in that. And, I'm sure he does every chance he gets!!!

Hasn't Roger's level of play really picked up since he got Juliette? I think that's the underlying secret, much like the Curse of the Bambino was that piano.

It's beginning to look like only big hitters have a slim chance of beating Federer. Relentless just doesn't get the job done. Federer is too fast and way too good at turning defense into sudden offense. Somebody has to be ON and winning a ton of cheap points to annoy him a bit. Then again, that Japanese guy at the Aussie Open was giving him fits. I don't know what the hell I'm saying...
