He knows Fed is 38, could barely take the court and was compromised throughout the match, but he mocks the GOAT?

Fed himself said he felt no worse after the match than he did before it.
He's going to play soon an exhibition in SA.
In the first set he made 25 winners.

So how injured was he really ?

He said he wasn't afraid of Novak, yet at 4-1 and 40-0 he proceeded to lose it all, then the match.

Maybe, just maybe he should start being afraid?

And talk a little less ?

Especially to lineswomen. Politesse and rules applies to everyone.

Even to milliardaires like him.

Can you clarify who you're a fan of please?

Take a look at 8:40 mark. He says why he did not divulge any injuries before. There is a term for it. Its called STOICISM. And look at how he played the QF and SF matches to the finish unlike the player(s) they are fan of. No wonder he is more relatable to your average fan. Some of these trolls need to be told off.

I wasnt the only one to feel he was intimidating her, he did get a warning no? either way not the time to have a chat to a linesperson
when the opponent is trying to serve out his game. Fedarrogance aplenty.
He got a warning because he said "f-ck it!" in Swiss German.

In any case, this is a Forum for Federer fans, plenty of others have been blocked from this thread spewing their crap. Take your issues and anti-Fed BS elsewhere.

I'm a Fed fan but I liked Djokovic's finger wag. It means he still considers him a threat. It's when he stops wagging his finger and does that condescending head tilt at the net when it's time to start worrying.

Did federer really say anything about thiem or was that fake

Thiem is 6-2 against Fedalovic in 2019 (7-2 after beating Nadl in AO20 QF). Does that make what Fedr said so unbelievable? How about at WTF19 + AO20, Thiem made BOTH finals while Fedalovic combined only managed a single finals between them (Djokr at AO20)? Still not convinced? How about Thiem defeating all 3 Fedalovic in the last 2 months?

Oh, Thiem's a threat, and not just on Sunday.

Where does it say so ?

No. Other fans can post here, provided they aren't too inflammatory. @Hitman posts here all the time, and he's a UUge Djokr fan. I genuinely wanted to know who you're rooting for as I can't tell. Please provide an answer, if you don't mind.

Me? I'm a Fedr fan ;).

I'm a fan of any player that sees pro tennis as a privilege to play, win or lose, as opposed to being a birthright.

Whether that makes me a Fed fan is for everyone to appreciate for himself. ;)

I rarely even check GPPD because it's mostly classless Nadal and Djoko fanatics posting about '40-15' etc. I like Nadal and Djokovic's tennis (dislike the former's time wasting and latter's fake fan love) and it's pretty clear that Djoker will probably end up with the GS record but hey, that's sports.

In the meantime...

Let's all get behind the frosted tipped Bavarian to keep the Spanish and Serb
boring baseline barbarians at bay from Roger's radiant record!

Hey now. This is a Fed worship thread. I don't think we should be posting negative Nadal or Djokovic posts here, but that's just my opinion.

Not being negative, I said I like Nadal and Joker's tennis (a lot actually). I just like Roger's more and would like to see a nextgen finally win a slam.

Rafa is best at slow baseline, Joker is best at med/fast baseline, Roger is best at all court. They are all great players just with different strengths.
After seeing Thiem redlining (in person) at IW last year I knew he could win big off clay. If the by product of that is Roger holding on to the record a bit longer that's an added benefit!

But the odds of Thiem beating Djoko are pretty low in reality.

Awesome interview!

Can’t say I really mind Djokovics finger wag or whatever . The dude has always been gracious whether he wins or loses. Every big player has had a celebration im sure they regretted later.

Though it did seem weird his Wimbledon win was a subdued reaction whereas this reaction was like he won by the Wimbledon type scoreline.

Probably just relief he didn’t have to tap into his reserves of energy after a horrid start

Because he knew that Federer was the better player at Wimbledon by every possible metric other than the AD scoring system and that he got extremely lucky my against a 38 year old man who outplayed him completely.

Please, its got nothing to do with anti-fed but his "etiquette", some of you trembling petals need to accept a necessary criticism.
Others have been blocked? harden up a smidgen you are blowing everything out of proportion do contact Dear Abbey asap.

The reality is tennis manners should be fair for everyone no exceptions for if Tennys Sandgren did that Im sure Fed would be totally irate.
I dont think anyone would do that to Fed of not allowing him to finish his service game and being interrupted unnecessarily.

If he didnt act like that I wouldnt even bother putting up with your non sense. Tennis is about pointing out the bad and the good
Totally blinded fanboism really is toxic. His tennis is the best style to watch by far but his arrogance needs to be pointed out.

What a frustrating final to watch. In the middle of the match Theim got the momentum on his side. He was playing well. And Djokovic looked low energy. But then one poor game in the 4th set and the wheels off. All of a sudden Theim is an unforced error machine spraying balls long and wide. Djokovic didn’t need to do much other than keep the ball in play. There was one point at 4-4 in the 4th set where Theim had Djokovic out wide in the corner and had the whole court open to go behind Djokovic and rip a winner into the open court. Instead he hit it right back to Djokovic and came in and dumped the volley in the net. He ended up losing that game. After that the wheels came off and he became an unforced error machine. Sigh.

It was a very frustrating reminder of Wimbledon.

The two sets Thiem won were runaways when Novak was inexplicably off his game. But once Novak turned it around and simply stopped missing, there was nothing his opponent could do. Only difference is that Fed on grass can serve his way to a way tighter 5th than Thiem on hard (or anywhere, really).

It was very similar Djoker walkabout followed by a win.

I’ll grant you that Djokovic came out of his funk towards the end of the 4th set but I didn’t think he was forcing a lot of errors from Theim. Theim just got really sloppy hitting balls long and wide, shaking his head and muttering to himself.

Federer has 7130 pts, currently ranked 3rd
+85
ahead of #4 Thiem
+1170
ahead of #5 Medvedev

But needs to defend 2100 pts:
500 in Dubai
600 in IW
1000 in Miami

Thiem defends 1000 in IW.
Medvedev got 135 pts in IW and Miami last year. Earns a lot from last summer US tournaments.

RF will drop to #5 quite likely.

Likely, yes, but I think he'll be #4 at worse after Miami20. We'll know soon enough.

Federer helped himself with that SF. I thought for sure he'd flame out in the 4R (again) or the QFs. His draw was fantastic to start with, then got progressively better.

If not by Miami, he will drop to No 5 during clay season. But he should be back in top 4 after Wimbledon.

I’ll make a prediction right now: Theim won’t defend IW. In fact I bet he flames out bit. He really had a shot to win this final and didn’t take advantage. That will play on his mind for a while.

It's not that bad. Federer gained 540 pts this week. He only needs to make up 1600 pts in Dubai/Indian Wells/Miami meaning he can freely skip one of them. Thiem is defending 1000 pts in IW. Medvedev is also defending 430 pts before NA Spring HC season. If Federer doesn't do too badly in the spring, he'll be in decent shape come clay where he's defending just 360 pts before RG. Making up 720 in Paree will be difficult but even otherwise it'll be somewhat difficult to drop out of the top 4 seed in Wimbledon thanks to a final appearance last year & the grass formula. But that's too far in the future.

Let's hope the old man fully heals from whatever knock(s) he's picked up dah-un un-dah.

Take note that I counted the points after AO as they are going to be announced tomorrow. Federer had 6,590 before the AO. Thiem closed the gap from 700 to 85 points only. Still 2100 to defend on February-March tour.
