Yeah you get that sense from him lately too. He lost to Tsonga and he seemed non chalant about it. Today, against Ferrer he seemed that way as well though he won and even stated that he doesn't really need the small tournaments prior to a slam for his confidence. Well that's a wise decision. He has other priorities now and he's getting older.

Look, if he wins the US Open despite totally tanking the 2 Masters events then he'll be totally vindicated in this approach. If he doesn't, he'll be severely criticized.
Federer has achieved a lot in his career, and had a lot of downs as well yet there are only a handful of people whose criticisms he might pay attention to otherwise at this point anything else won't have any weight.
I have felt like this about some tournaments he played in, but I dont get how he knows if he's in good form if he loses early in a tournament. How can you be confident in your game even though last time you won a significant match/tourney was a month or more ago?
Oh he'll never hear the end of it from the media if he doesn't win the US Open.

I am in India and i get a delayed telecast of the US series. And i can't stay away from checking this forum in the morning all week long :-(
If Federer`s goals are to continue winning slams i don`t see how he can cut down his schedule .It`s not like he is playing 25-30 a year like Davydenko does.I don`t remember the last non slam or master series event he has played in.Probably at start of the year.
But the masters events are good practice before the slams and he plays the minimum tourneys a top player would play.
He isnt whinning.Read his interview..man, there's nothing in the OP either that should suggest he's whinning. Its not just his schedule ,he needs to decide where he wants to go next year in terms of his goals .His prime goals for all these years were winning a Wimbledon( he always picks Wimbledon for the one slam he would like to win every year),going for his FO,Going for the record..now that he's done so much he needs to re-assess his priorities and travel.Maybe he wont fly to..say Monte Carlo and Dubai. He can afford to cut back on Doha as well..Aside from the schedule he needs to assess what he wants from himself as a player now.Yeah the only ATP 250/500 event he's played this year was 2nd week of January in Doha. So I really don't get his whining about the schedule. My guess is he doesn't like that he has to play all 9 Masters.
that's okay really. not such a big thing, not like a final ...You serious? If you are I apologize.....I'm sleep typing lol....it didn't happen....
