As I said on the match thread, Roger has a history of gamesmanship when things are going against him but it was sad to see him reduced to blatantly behaving like this to make up for his fading speed and skills.

What went through my head watching this extended episode:
1. just how fine the margins are in determining success at the top of tennis. Fed could quite easily have become a Swiss Fog with a hotter wife and a poorer life.
2. just how experienced Fed is arguing with toddlers and not giving a **** how onlookers perceive a situation. I'll argue with other people's kids too and I bet he does when there's no cameras around.
3. what a little turd Cilic is, smirking away through the whole thing, having caused it with his two-speed variable-bouncing play, especially after Fed went on with it with the umpire at the change of ends. All because Cilic couldn't handle Fed drop-shotted his serve for a straight winner and the umpire giving him a soft warning for the bouncing.
4. just how guaranteed it was that Fed would win the next point, and the match, resoundingly.

He wasn't "slow" between points.
Cilic was varying hugely his serve routine. One time he was bouncing the ball until the last second, the other time he was willing to go several seconds after he got the ball in his hand, not allowing Federer to even towel off. The rules state that the receiver should play to the reasonable pace of the server. There was nothing reasonable in the effort of Cilic to ambush Federer with these despicable tactics.
Federer called Cilic and the umpire on those things and he was right, as usual.

It is okay, the clown backed down once Fed said "I know the rules." He realized who he was dealing with and smartly backed off.

I see the match and honestly, i dont think Federer take his time, but he was really "distracted" with this "incident" and he lost the second set.

Cilic seemed like a decent bloke, all things considered. Bit surprising—to me at least.

Which second from the allotted time was it when Federer was sanctioned?
It´s weird cause after his 1st Round match Federer said it felt strange to him going for the towels and that in Geneva he felt too fast between points, kinda like playing a practice match, so now he needed to pace himself a bit more. Perhaps he went the other way around, I haven´t seen his latest match though.

That's precious. Over the course of his career Nadal probably has thousands of time-wasting violations and has only been warned a few times. And he doesn't do it because he is OCD. It's deliberate and it works.

If that is the case the why should the server show the ball to the receiver at the start of sets? The server should just start bouncing the ball and the receiver will know that he is about to serve.When I read this quote from him yesterday, I laughed my ass off...
