I argue that the US Open surface is the one that is best for Federer's game, so it won't entirely surprise me to see him pick up another US Open title.

If Roddick who is only a year younger than him and nowhere near as talented as Federer can still improve than Roger easily can too if he wants to. Djokovic not going forward now, he is going backwards. Murray still has not proven much in the slams, and Nadal has injury questions for the time being.

ffs, people are so naive these days..Federer won't win another slam but Wimbledon (that coming just after he won back to back RG and Wimbey and losing the AO final to Nadal, having 21 consecutive GS SF appearances), Federer wins 5 slams a year(okay not 5 but GS next year, saw it in other thread), Nadal won't win one but French, Federer should consider retirement, Nadal should consider switching to football.. Ppl have to understand that Nadal and Federer are still great champions and Djokovic and Murray(being hell of a talents) need to prove themselves they can beat both on the big stage(as Djokovic did to win his slam).

What gaurantee is there of Nadal's French Open dominance being restored? We should wait and see how he performs when he comes back, or atleast how he performs early next year on the slower hard courts. Anyway even if Federer plays Nadal having resumed as the dominant clay courter he will have nothing to lose for the first time ever, and we might see a better performance than any previous. I think Del Potro could be a contender for the French title these next years too, and could definitely become a danger to Nadal on clay particularly if Nadal never again regains his 2008 level.

Last year people said he will never win a slam and how he will never win a french open. They even said he wouldnt win the US open after losing to blake in the olympics. Since then he won the US open,a french and wimby.He may have slipped compared to his prime years but i would say Fed can still call upon 'god mode' from time to time.

Fed is a tad slow. No doubt. But i am sure he is adapting. He is going to rely more on his serve and i am quite impressed the way he used it in the wimbledon finals.

As far the young guns, i agree Murray is improving. I do not agree that Djoker and Nadal have improved. Nadal is suspect because of his knee issue. Djoker has a host of mental issues to deal with.

At the moment Fed relativeto his competition is looking strong. He can get atleast 2 more wimbledon titles and US open titles each. It is purely a function of his motivation to win and that has not shown any sign of slacking so far.

Fed did manage to take this year's AO since that post, but the sentiment wasn't totally off-base. Federer is clearly on the decline, but ruling out a couple more Slams even at this point would be idiotic.

Now I can say Nadal not winning the US Open was a "sentiment" that wasn't totally off-base, because it's his weakest surface and I don't think he'll win another one. See how that works? "Sentiment" and "off-base" are generic fuzzy words.

I think Federer has a real shot at both the 2011 AO and at Wimbledon as well. If he commits himself, there's no reason why he couldn't do that. The 2011 US Open tournament will be very interesting as well. I sense that he needs to really dig deep now if he wants to add any more majors, but I think he's capable of doing it.
