can anyone suggest a low profile, simple mount for camera on tennis fence?

I either stick my camcorder into one of the holes in the fence (it fits pretty well) or use a few zip ties to hang it up and keep it in place. #GhettoTennis

that's as low profile as it can be which is good. the zip tie can be a bit inconvenient.

I see duct tape, usually silver colored, as the too of choice to attach a small vid cam to a chain link fence.
Usually just over 6' high, so little chance of a ball striking the camera....unless Isner is serving.

Why not on top of fence?

Why not on top of the fence, like with the QM-1 camera mount? It's probably easier to mount up and gives a better angle. There are lots of posts on here about it and other ways to get on top. I prefer the higher angle, even if you are just looking at strokes.

Arche3 do you happen to have an instructional for that mount?

I went to home Depot and looked at plumbing pipes and connectors. I just found pieces I wanted and screwed them together with a drill. I then stuck the go pro mount on top of the cap I screwed on top. The hook part was near the piping as well. There is tons of lengths and pieces. Just Lego it using drywall screws and a electric dry wall drill.

Problem with gorilla pod is you can't attach high enough to get the spectator view of full court.

If you aren't a DIYer like arche3 then I'd lobby for the QM-1. Mine works great. Just be sure to get a wide enough angle camera so you don't have to fuss with the alignment once you've hung the camera on the fence.

Just wanted to let you know that the product listed in the original post is called LynkSpyder and is designed for recording baseball and softball games. However, we have several customers who use the product for tennis. For baseball and softball, a firm connection to the fence is critical to withstand direct foul ball impacts, which is our primary design requirement.

You had mentioned that our bracket is too high of a profile. Could you talk to us a bit about what you mean? Also, are there suggestions that you might have to help our product support the tennis market?

Thanks so much,

the mount is too big and easily draws attention. many opponents don't want matches be filmed because of the distraction of a large object on the fence. many people on the court also don't feel comfortable with such a big mount. 2 small hooks with the camera hanging at the bottom would be nice.

Make an extension so it can be easily mounted higher. Tennis videos for coaching purposes we need to film from about 7 feet up at the back fence to see the whole court and both players. I wouldn't worry about it being too noticeable. Most people who buy this will be coaches so no worries about people not wanting to be on video.

The actual size of our product is 6" wide by 9" tall (in the closed position). I can't speak to specifics if this is a possible distraction.

While we could certainly do this, it sounds like what you really want is the QM-1 (from mytennistools.com). Their product has a pole and is intended to quickly mount to the top of a fence. Our product can be mounted in any location, but requires the user to reach each of the mounting points to lock them in place. Again, this is required for baseball/softball to ensure the camera isn't dislodged from the fence upon impact. Not sure how other products handle a direct impact from a tennis ball. Additionally our product is designed to allow the camera to shoot through the fence, via one of the chain link openings, instead of on top of the fence. Our customers generally mount the camera about head high. This allows for easy mounting, camera adjustment, and removal.

Hope this helps,

Josh

Cool. I am going to get one of those lynk spider. I think a courtside view is pretty cool.. Gorilla pod looks a little fiddly to me and the QM-1 is okay for like strategic purposes but a little too high up to be exciting to watch..

^ you could mount the QM-1 anywhere on the fence, not just the top...depends on the fence I suppose...

I just stick an iphone to the blackberry holster with a belt clip. The clip is good enough to hold the phone horizontally for a landscape view.
