Juan Carlos Ferrero will not play again until Spain meet the United States in the Davis Cup final in December.
"I need 15 or 20 days to rest and the same amount of time to train. Hopefully I'll be at 100% by then," he said.

Ferrero has battled injury all season and has seen his world ranking drop from three at the end of 2003 to 33.

The 24-year-old recently elected to change his racquet, a factor he partly blamed for Wednesday's Madrid Masters defeat to Peru's Luis Horna.

Despite his form, Ferrero is almost certain to play singles for Spain when they face the USA in the Davis Cup final on 3 December.

Carlos Moya, who has been struggling with shoulder and knee problems, and teenager Rafael Nadal are team captain Jordi Arrese's other options.
