Fix a super loopy forehand

On the backhand side I have a pretty small backswing which helps me take the ball on the rise and hit good returns of serve. On the forehand I have this lleyton hewittish loop that really hurts my timing and my returns. Are there any drills or concepts that I should focus on to correct this? I wouldn't mind having an abbreviated forehand backswing so that I could time my swing better and drive through the ball better

On the takeback, hold onto the throat of the racket with your non hitting hand as long as you can, all the way to your side.

This, plus be conscious of the height of your hand during takeback/unit turn. Many large loops occur when the hand is taken back high (shoulder height), causing the hand/handle to have to carve a large arc during the complete swing. The larger the arc, the greater the chance for inconsistency.
If you take your hand back lower, your hand can use a smaller arc (the racquet head arc will still be larger) and you may find your timing and consistency improve.
