just for reference, Rafa was the overwhelming favorite just before his Rome injury.

It’s clear that fitness and foot concerns play heavily in this prediction; especially this evidence would argue that game wise, Nadal is favored.

Still, Djokovic has been nearly flawless since the Alcaraz match and it is a massive opportunity for him.

Yep. Their job is to put out a favorite based on who they strongly believe will win for a myriad of reasons. And Rafa’s unpredictable foot and Novak’s peaking game drive them to Rafa. Being a favorite isn’t a lifetime achievement award, it’s about who looks the most likely to win NOW.

Betting odds can change in the most drastic and illogical ways in a span of minutes. Obviously Djokovic beating Nadal here would be more than possible but it wouldn't be surprising at all if he doesn't. At the moment, there aren't any clear signs that Novak is that big of a favorite.

Nadal fans nervous and trying to temper expectations?
The opposite. Sick of seeing so many Choco fans sandbagging the outcome with lies because your collective little brother mindset can’t handle the pressure of being the favorite—so much easier doing the chasing but when the roles are reversed, you guys start scrambling for alternate realities.

Nadal is gonna party hard tonight if Madrid win. Or be depressed.

Novak has been the favorite in most key matches he has played in the last decade or so. What on earth are you talking about? The only place where he is not the favorite generally is clay vs Nadal, other than that he’s almost always the favorite. Novak fans are perfectly comfortable with this

Even before Roland Garros happened, I had exactly the same as the bookies in that order as the Favorites:

1) Djokovic
2) Nadal
3) Tsitsipas
4) Alcaraz
5) Zverev
6) Ruud
7) Medvedev

The only reason I put Djokovic over Nadal is based on his solid performance in Rome and Nadal being titleless and with the chronic foot injury dilemna.

Based also on their respective performances at Roland Garros, I'm even tempted to say that Djokovic is the most impressive player at the moment.

I think a person would have to be soiling their own undies pretty hardcore to make such a thread in the first place:-D what's the aim here?

Only explanation I can think of. StrongRule pandemic has infected VB. I mean it’s RG and Philip Chatrier FFS! This is Nadal’s court. All this monkey balancing to take the pressure off them and keep expectations low is so lame. Nadal is the clear favorite in the matchup in this tournament no matter what the conditions. He is the man to beat.

We heard that same BS from you last year. Somehow nobody thought Federer was the favorite against Djokovic in Wimbledon 2015 or 2019 finals, despite the difference in titles.

Djokovic fans as usual try to hype his competition at all cost, just to make his wins look better. They will as always claim that this is peak Nadal. The only time when I ever saw them claim Djokovic is the favorite is in AO 2022, and that's only after he got deported. Yeah, this is the one and only time when he was definitely going to win. :-D :-D :-D :-D

You'll see, if they will somehow meet in Wimbledon, @Krish0608 and others will claim Nadal is the favorite.

You mean the same Nadal who has been hitting his BH like friggin Berrettini. Novak fans just want to hype up Nadal so that when inevitably he destroys Nadal they can gloat when in reality this version of Nadal is far far more worse than 2015 version. In 2015 atleast his BH was semi decent. Currently he cant hit more than 2 BHs in a row without coughing up an error, the FH is not even reaching the service line and the serve is at par or worse than Diego Schwartzman. I am sorry but current Nadal is not even at top 30 level. Novak beating up on this Nadal is equivalent to him beating a much worse version of last years Federer at Wimbledon

Federer and Djokovic are 6 years apart with non overlapping peaks. Federer was the fav when they met at the end of his prime at Wimbledon 2012. He won that match. Every other meeting has been Djokovic in his prime/close to his prime and Federer far away from his. With Djokodal, both are not prime right now, but Nadal is clearly the better clay courter and leads their clay H2H in their last 5 matches 4-1. Nadal is clearly favorite to win if they meet. Sorry to tell you that mate.

Yeah, keep cherry picking, bringing last 5 matches or some more BS of that kind. Djokovic totally destroyed Nadal in their last meeting and he is clearly the much more in-form player right now. It's amazing how much you disrespect Nadal, claiming that losing to Shapovalov on clay means he is in good form.

Like I said, VB has been infected with the StrongRule pandemic. It’s just amusing to see, that’s all.

Yeah, keep trying to overhype Djokovic's competition. I'm still waiting for you to name one match where Djokovic was in good form and lost. According to you this never happens. But Nadal who loses to Shapovalov on clay is absolute peak Nadal.

They also still claim 2015 Fed was peak grass Fed.

Yeah, a player is at his peak exactly when he is losing to Djokovic. After all the crying from them about Nadal being terrible in AO and just winning because Djokovic wasn't there, one would expect them not to hype Nadal so much here. But no. Even this version of Nadal scares them.
