French Commentators....ummmm....

Watching the FO this year and listening to radio roland garros I've been a bit surprised by the lack of professionalism.

I've found the french commentators very bias, arrogant and often quite rude especially to any player who happens to be up against a french player.

Maybe it's just I'm not use to their style after being conditioned by North American sports commentary. Is this common in europe or just in france?

Listen I love paris and the french but I can't stand listening to their commentary, they seem to blurt out whatever is on their mind politcally correct or not. Some might call that passion, I just find it annoying.

Look, I'm not a roddick fan but to tell him 'To stop acting like a baby....' and then tell anyone who e-mailed them about being arrogant to 'shut off your radio if you can't handle my it'

This seem odd to you?

I think they are OK for the most part.

But this one guy was commenting on the Roddick vs Monfils match and he said that Roddick is aggressive from the baseline and will be controlling the points, going for winners, etc. WTF? Has he not seen Roddick play at all, or what?

And then halfway through he said he was surprised that Monfils has more winners than Roddick, etc.

The french commentators are usually bad (i am french)

Now, for every matchs they have a ex pro player with them to correct the stupidities they say all days long and it is better.

For exemple, the comments on Philippe Chatrier this year is assisted by Arnaud Butch.

Journalists are just selling their soup as usual

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was just me being snippety. I speak pretty good french and grew up in a bilingual community (NB, in Canada). I enjoy french culture and I frequent montreal often so I know I'm not bias against the french.

Anyways, I hope Tsonga pulls a Murray and becomes a mental 'rock'. He'll be unbeatable then.

Murray a mental rock? Breaks back at 4-5 in the 4th just to be broken at love like a total tool

People are often fooled by the nature of Roddick's physique and the way he serves. With that kind of serve you expect someone to be really agressive. Roddick's not.

Yeah, but this guy is commenting on TV and he's a former pro. Surely he's seen Roddick play before?

i am French, and watched the commentators on TV5,

the French cable station, and my impression is that they know little about tennis...i remember at one point they mentioned that Fed never beat Nadal on the clay surface and then started to second guess what they just said...having said this, the 2 very nice things about the French broadcast is that is was not interrupted, and they don't talk as much, especially during the points...even during the changeover, the camera stays on the courts,...THATSA NICE!!

French commentators are often very biased and instead of listening to specialists one has the impression of listening to a passionate supporter.

They are a bit like the crowd.
