He's got one of the smoothest backhands in the world and you're looking at his forehand grip?

I love watching Gasquet play. Notice he NEVER gives up. He keeps coming back over and over again.
By the looks of it... He changes grip very late into the takeback, giving an illusion he is still using the continental...
his forehand sucks. so many into the net!!! watched from the end of the third set to the start of the fifth, never seen a top 10 player with such a SH1TTY FOREHAND!
The thing that is different about his forehand is the fact that he barely lays the wrist back at all unlike most players with a modern forehand. I think his power suffers for it. I think he is actually closer to a continental than a eastern. Look how much trouble he has generating superb pace on high balls kicked up to his forehand...that's a problem inherent to the continental. If I were his coach, I'd take him retool the forehand and get him to lay it back more...
How is this guy ranked so high? Every match I've seen him play...he's won 2 sets and then falls apart.

It seems to me that Gasquet didn't change grip between forehand and backhand so continental indeed.
Thanks for posting here
It's semi-western, he just does not lay his wrist back as much during the swing and on contact, so his stroke can appear eastern based, but it's semi-western.Does anyone know what grip gasquet use on his forehand?
It seems to me that hes using an eastern grip but makes the swing and the finish that players with an western grip make!! i think thats why hes forehand seems so awkard
I took this photo on Monday...
It's impossible to tell what he's trying to do with that shot. The best photos are the ones just before contact or right in the middle of the swing.I took this photo on Monday...
These are semi-western grips. If these strokes are part of the same action as your first photo, then he changes his grip at some point in his preparation. Here's a couple more.
