Grass has greater strength in depth of competition than clay

Except Nadal fans (and some other salty specimens) are singing the same tune across a greater variety of threads (both in general and pro match results section), grass is for servebots, Fed's a servebot, grass is boring, grass is obsolete etc. etc. So yes, she makes a sailent point.

And no, Fed fans doing the same during the CC season still doesn't diminish it because she personally doesn't do it.
Greater is a stretch. But my point is that this is typical behavior for any thread with a divisive headline like this. If you expect anything less well life must be hard for you here then.

Grass is in no way more competitive than clay:

1. Most younger kids are raised on clay courts, they play thousands of hours on them and they developed their clay skill as much as posible.
2. There are three weeks of grass tennis, players dont spend enough time on grass and often they hardly know what to do out there. You have plenty of guys ala Coric who doesnt know that they could be actually good
3. Given the era and equipment, baseline tennis and passing shots are on a way higher level compared to serve and volley.
4. You have 40 tournaments on clay as ATP events, on the Challenger circuit you have full year of scheduled tournaments and even Year ending finale .. again on clay.

OK, it's a fair point to make I must admit.

Is the competition on clay stronger than grass or vive versa? I shall compare players on clay with players on grass using an objective and data-driven method.

Method: I compared the best performance of players at Roland Garros (RG) and Wimblebon (WB), and used the ATP ranking as a tie-breaker in case two players are tied.

Objective and data-driven ranking:

Thiem on clay (1 F, 2 SF at RG) >>> Cilic on grass (1 F, 0 SF at WB)
Schwartzmann on clay (1 QF at RG, #11 in the world) >>>> Kyrgios on grass (1 QF at WB, #21 in the world).
Zverev on clay (1 QF at RG) >>>>> Zverev on grass (0 QF at WB).
Djokovic on clay (1 RG title) <<<< Djokovic on grass (3 WB titles).
Del Potro on clay (2 SF at RG) >>>> Del Potro on grass (1 SF at WB).
Goffin on clay (1 QF at RG, #9 in the world) >>>>> Müller on grass (1 QF at WB, #60 in the world).

Results: Competition on clay is clearly stronger than competition on grass. It seems like Federer is not dominant on grass anymore, and their fans need to think of new excuses.

More players are obviously comfortable on clay because it's slow and easy to slide on while grass turns today's players into clumsy giraffes. Clay field is stronger but it is much easier for a nobody to get hot on the day and take out a big seed on grass. This was true even in the 90s.

Well okay at least I know now. I thought you were 100% serious or salty for most of it. But then again it is possible to be salty and countertroll, like our TTW heroes 90s Clay and sureshs.
Sometimes I am sometimes just having fun with it.
