Greater career and player- Bartoli or Wozniacki

Wozniacki has seen Na, Schiavone, Stosur, Azarenka and Kvitova all fly past her in the pecking order of best players of her era recently. Has Bartoli now also gone past. Not only does she have a major title, something Wozniacki will never achieve, but she has an additional slam final, and probably more longevity as a top 10/top 15ish player than Wozniacki will be able to manage considering her time as a top 10/top 15ish player is likely almost at an end.

Hard to say on either since Woz is so much younger than Bartoli. Who knows what game the former will grow (or devolve) into. But at this point, Bartoli on both counts.

Bartoli has won a grand slam, Wozniacki has not. Bartoli has a unique style, Wozkiacki is the ultimate pusher.

It is fairly obvious which way it is going at this point. Also being a grinder there wont be a revival. Once a grinder with no weapons starts to lose speed and looked a bit tired they are done.

My prediction is Lisicki and Radwanska win major titles in the next 2 years and both pass the Woz by in most peoples estimation as well.

Bartoli.

Her name will go down in immortality as a Wimbledon champion.

Wozniacki will not be remembered at all in 50-100 yrs time, except for anoraks looking through tennis stats to see who was ranked as world No 1.

Bartoli is also a much more memorable character/has a more memorable and idiosyncratic game. Wozniacki is a mere pusher.

Poor Woz. Despite her empassioned defenders, it seems any player who wins a random slam is automatically put above her. Not on the level of the best slamless players like Fernandez, Sukova, Shriver, and Dementieva at all. I look forward to starting this thread when Radwanska and Lisicki join the slam winners circle in the next 2 years.

I like Wozniaki as a person but she never had any business being ranked number one. Just doesn't have much of a tennis game besides her retrieval skills.

is this a trick question?

the fact that it is even up for debate is laughable!

A grand slam winner vs a choker on the biggest stage. Wozniaki could have won maybe 2 or 3 slams by now if it was for her famed choking abilities. Another verdasco

Bartoli has the better carreer since yesterday.
She was always a better ballstriker.

Plus, she actually has an upper lip.

Woz most likely has has the 'better' career so far but I doubt any player would put a slam-less career however great ahead of even one slam title in the modern era.

If both players retired tomorrow I bet Bartoli in ten years time, 50 years time would glow with pride when reminiscing about her lone Slam victory. Not sure anything Woz has achieved in tennis would give her the same satisfaction.

The problem with Wozniacki is she doesnt even have one of the biggest titles after a slam. No WTF, no Olympic Gold, no Fed Cup title, no Miami title. That plus she has a mere 1 slam final, and it came long before her stint at #1 and most probably dont even remember it. With her 20 titles and time at #1 (no matter how farcial most of it) one could make a case for her to be over a slam winner if she had more slam finals or a secondary biggest title, but that doesnt even have that.

I bet there are many people who would rank Fernandez, Dementieva, Shriver, or Sukova over a weakish 1 slam winner. Not Woz though. The only slam winners most would rank Woz over are Chris O Neil and Barbara Jordan, that is all.

Bartoli better career and player right now. 2 Wimbledon finals, has now won a Wimbledon title without dropping a set, been runner-up once and scored wins over Justine Henin and Serena Williams there, plus beating Lisicki. That trumps anything Wozniacki has done.
