Will TW carry the Head LiquidMetal Instinct Tour XL's? What is the difference in the regular Instincts and the XL's? I know that the XL's are longer, but what does the extra length do for you?

We will see this and other new LM racquets next week. I know it is heavier, but didn't know it was longer than the current Instinct. We'll post whatever info we can by next Friday. Don/Tennis Warehouse

PS Generally, longer racquets offer a bit more leverage and power on serves, and (of course) more reach.

I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed with Head here. The Instinct is a fine racquet, and I assumed the Tour XL version would be slightly heavier, slightly longer, and perhaps have a more open string pattern since Head's other tour-series racquets all have closed patterns. Well, I've looked at the Instinct Tour XL on the Head website and in their downloadable catalog and it appears to be a completely different racquet. Weight? Check. Longer? Check. Open string pattern? Check. Instinct? No check. The headshape is different, the throat beams are different and it is basically a completely different racquet rather than a slightly modified version of a new favorite. We will see as folks demo and post their results but the racquet looks more like the new LM Fire in the throat area than it does the Instinct.

Shane, we have samples of this racquet and it measures exactly the same as the LM Instinct. Same mold, as far as I can tell. Frankly, I'm a bit puzzled that they made a heavier racquet longer. But then, what do I know... It actually swings pretty nice. Don/Tennis Warehouse
