Tried it for the first time earlier this week too and was also quite pleased. Good all around and doesn't seem to notch as fast as most other polys I've tried. Curious to see if the good tension maintenance numbers from the lab will translate to real life.

Regarding thickness, I recall a few people mentioning that it feels thicker and heavier than other strings at the same gauge. I didn't measure the diameter, but I weighed my racket before and after stringing to get the string weight and Lynx Tour 1.30 (silver) was heavier than other 1.30 strings I've tried recently. Here are the weights of a few strings in my EZone 100 (repost from http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/ultimate-string-of-choice.689948/post-15102069 as it seemed relevant to this thread too):

Volkl Cyclone Tour 1.30, 17.3g
Ytex X-square 1.25, 17.7g
Tier One Black Knight 1.28, 18.3g
Solinco Tour Bite 1.30, 18.6g
Topspin Cyber Flash 1.30, 19.2g
Kirschbaum Max Power 1.30, 19.3g
Head Lynx Tour 1.30, 19.8g
Babolat RPM Blast 1.35, 19.8g
Luxilon ALU power 1.38, 20.5g

Head Lynx Tour is my favorite new string. Impressive combination of control, spin, and power. Relatively comfortable for a low-powered poly compared to the likes of RPM Blast, Hyper G, and Tour Bite. It's one of those strings that play better after a few sets of break-in period. It's a bit springy at first but after it settles in, durability, playability, and tension maintenance are all excellent.

I tried this bad boy (champagne 17g) this week. What a great string. Very good control and pop combo.. I liked the feel a lot as well. Though I tried it on Blade Pro so that may not be fair as that one is one of the best feeling rackets i have ever hit with.. i am going to try it in v7 18m next. Some awesome combination of crisp and butter here. Love it.

Orange is way too lively with too much pop. It slingshots the ball. Great buttery feel but the less control oriented between the 3. So i am torn between grey and champagne. Grey is the crisper one with the most power, champagne maybe the most balanced. I will give champagne another shot but maybe grey will be the ultimate winner. Nevertheless guys this is an amazing string for those who want a more solid/powerful Hyper G without sacrificing CONTROL.... this is sth that amazes me with that string. Also don’t forget that it excels on durability.... and i am not referring only to tension loss but on its characteristics (byte/feel/spin/snapback) that many polys loose after 2 weeks.

I've been playing with the orange 1.25 color for a week, total of 4 hours. Full bed, 52/50 lbs. Really enjoy it. I haven't played with the gray or the champagne colors yet, but plan to put those in my frames in the coming weeks.

For me, not too stiff, great control, like how it feels after the initial 30-minute - 1 hour break-in period. Even with a tension drop, it is powerful but not overly so. Power is just right for me.

It does look and feel thicker than 1.25mm when I string it, but if it's 1.27mm or 1.28mm, with the way I liked it, fine by me! Seems to have good durability and didn't seem to notch much after a singles match, doubles match and an hour of just hitting.

Much prefer this string over the RPM Blast 1.25 I was using and have put this as my new go-to string (until I find some other latest, greatest string in a few weeks or months). Also prefer it over ALU Power 1.25 b/c of the control (and price) and Volkl Cyclone b/c of the control and feel is more in line with what I prefer out of poly.

Head did really nice job with this one and gives me a string like Hyper G but that doesn't tear my elbow up like Hyper G did. Well done, Head.

So I've tried all three colors and wanted to get an opinion if you guys experienced the same thing. All three colors play differently is my experience. Orange has more pop and less control, champaigne has the most control but also maybe a bit stiffer. Meanwhile, gray is like in between. Is that the case?

I’m interested in this also. I’ve only played the orange b/c I like the color and way it looks in my all black frame. But, love to hear people’s take b/c I have a pack of silver and pack of champagne and am looking to find one of the colors of Lynx Tour to play full time. I will say, I dig the orange though. It may have more power than the other two colors but it was very nice and controlled for me.

I got a few sets champagne and silver and I’m trying to decide which color I prefer. To me they play very similarly in terms of spin, control, and power. I find silver to have a slightly crisper feel while champagne is a little more muted. Haven’t tried orange.

This is helpful. Sounds like the silver does sit between the champagne and orange, in terms of feel. Way it sounds now, I’ll likely land on the silver but we’ll see how things go.

I’ve had champagne and gray rotating in my sticks, and the above comments are accurate. Though, I can switch between the two easily. I prefer the champagne, surprisingly, as I played tour bite and ALU for years. The controlled aspect of the champagne is just great and it still has that sink-into-the-stringbed feel I need.

I have the same preference. I would rank champagne, silver, and orange in that order. I think I’m going to buy a reel of champagne.

Anyone hybrid any of the different colors together? I’m way bored (outside of playing tennis) so for some giggles was going to try orange mains and gray cross. /insert shoulder shrug

I thought of doing a champagne/silver hybrid yesterday and then wondered if I was going insane. I'm playing well with champagne so should just stick with it and turn my brain off.

Lol! My friend that I play with said, “Now you’re just bored!”and I will not disagree. At all. I’ve been hitting the orange and enjoying it but I’m all for tooling around and trying things. I may try a hybrid down the line, just b/c I can.

I did, just because I had a half set of champagne (1.30) and grey (1.25) left over from a couple other hybrid jobs. With the grey in the mains it played pretty well, but not a noticeable difference to me from a full bed of either.

I do prefer the 1.25 as far as playability goes, and I like the look of the champagne in my Extreme Tour. Haven't had a chance to hit with the orange color yet.

I think champagne is just pure copolyester material with no added pigments. Also Head seems to have a tendency to first release the best version of strings, additional colours only later. Hawk was only white for a while, and we see that Head players use white, Hawk Touch was red etc. For a large webshop in EU they also made Lynx "champagne", meaning without pigment. Probably because the material properties are best kept like that, like tension maintenance, less notching etc.

New Radicals are lower powered, so when they made the bright orange Lynx Tour, to launch it together with new Radical line, they maybe intentionally made it slightly livelier. Besides, it's nice for all players to be able to choose what they prefer.

Pro players that use Lynx Tour use champagne. Zapp Brannigan approves :D

who uses Lynx Tour on tour ? :)

This string is definitely something else. Just restrung one of my racquets again and the string is just weird. It’s not like the other polys. Somehow it’s really soft to bend and kink but hardly stretches when tension is pulled. It’s soft and stiff at the same time if you know what I mean. Quite weird but none the less my absolute favorite string at the moment.

Cristian Garín, Federico Coria, Lorenzo Musetti in crosses, Thiem did in mains for a while. Probably others as well, I don't watch all players all that much
For a while rumors had it Rublev played it. But he is now confirmed with his trusty Adrenaline

Yes in my DR98.
I enjoyed it. Offered plenty of control I found, but I did find the gut got notched a bit sooner then expected. I normally use YPTP.
I was wondering for my ezone 98. Thanks for input. I normally play with max power in the cross.

Definitely worth a try.
I’ll probably use it again at some point since I did enjoy the control. Tamed the gut a bit if that’s what you want in the cross.

how does this compare to Babolat Rpm rough or solinco confidential in spin generation ? Thanks
Biggest spin with lynx tour :)
Confidential more comfortable and forgiving. Rpm rough is kinda dead and i didnt like it.
More on my strings related thread.
btw if you are luxilon original fan but want more spin potential then lynx tour should be your first demo. At the same time I think i slightly prefer luxilon original for the more consistent feel and it feels faster. (Already confirmed that lynx tour is heavier than most poly) .
Very close call... original vs lynx tour.

I started to weight my strings at some point but some I don't know unfortunately (too late decision) BUT - Lynx Tour is about 2 grams heavier than Confidential and Alu Power. Rest I don't know. Going just by feel in my hands I noticed only Lynx Tour 1.30 and Mayami Magic Twist 1.30 and Dyreex Hexablast 1.30 to feel a bit heavier than rest of the strings I tested. Lynx Tour is confirmed . Rest are just theories :)

Just got one of my racquet strung with Head Lynx Tour 1.25. It's 3g heavier than Confidential 1.25. 338g with Lynx Tour vs 335g with Confidential.
OMG That's heavy. Was it noticeble to you while hitting volley or groundies ? if it's noticebly heavy then i may have to return mine

Didn't play yet with it. I'll give it a try tomorrow morning. It's slightly noticeable when holding the racquet but not sure if will have an effect on my strokes. I'll give you an update tomorrow.

I think lynx tour 1.25 adds about 1.5g to 2 gr.. it took my swingweight up 5pts vs HG 17g (1.20)

its heavier than other casual 1.25 strings. But still lighter than all 1.30 gauges. I wouldnt focus that much on the weight. You can adjust to it within the month. We are talking about such a small difference here... I am surprised that so many people felt it.

It's not really the static weight that can be felt but more the increase of SW. It's noticeable. Most probably negligible in terms of performance but noticeable.

Yes definitely. At first I thought I was just a bit tired. But after a couple of times it was still noticeably heavier than HyperG which I used before Lynx Tour. Removed 2g of lead and now it’s perfect again.

static weight has influence on SW. You can't add weight without increasing SW. So ye...you are right ! :) of course we are talking about SW difference as this is the main spec you can "feel" during the play, next is balance. weight has the least impact on how you feel the racquet during swing. in my experience at least.

OMG, that's not good. I gotten used to RPM rough string which is one of the lightest polys in the market,, i feel. i may have to return the Lynx tour.:cry:

Played 1h this morning with Lynx Tour. Honestly the fact the the string is heavier doesn't impact the performance. I didn't feel the racquet heavier to swing or sluggish or less manœuvrable. Yes ok when holding the racquet you can feel it's slightly heavier in the head but once in play no difference at all.
Otherwise I was expecting a stiff poly. To my surprise I found it quite comfortable.
In terms of feel at impact it reminds me a bit Solinco Confidential. But Lynx Tour has more pocketing. I need to play more to make my mind.

Being that Lynx is a non-shaped string you can really only compare it to PTP. IMO it plays very similar to PTP, maybe a bit softer, slightly less control and durability. Spin is on par with both of them.
lynx is Shaped string...
