Head to re-release the original Radical as a tribute to Agassi

I just saw an ad in Inside Tennis magazine that said Head is going to re-release the original Radical as used by Agassi in the mid-90's this fall. This is to commemorate Andre Agassi's career at the time of his retirement from pro tennis. The racquets will be at retailers in November '06 and will have a serial number and Agassi's signature. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

What this tells me is that Head is finally going to market the same racquet that Agassi has likely been using all along for over the past 12 years - i.e., the original Radical with Ti.Radical, i.radical, LiquidMetal Radical, and now Flexpoint Radical paintjobs.

Oooooo this is sweet. I hope they'll bring back the Pro Tour 280 and some other old school racquets as well. Old school is so much better than todays racquets.

Yes, I believe that's what they're talking about, the original first version of the Radical. There was no pic of it in the ad. That's all I know as that's all that was in the ad. Don't know what the exact specs will be.

Well, that's not really saying much as almost everything is heavier than the Ti.

Yes, the original Radical was a real player's racquet, and as such, was over 12 oz.

I'm pretty sure Agassi uses whatever new racket Head calls the radical after some customization of course. He has a nice contract with head and from what I've heard they listen to his grumblings about how frames should feel etc...The original radical was a nice frame. I had one as a kid, I got lucky and got it for 79.00 Canadian when Sports Chek accidently labelled the real version with the JR Radical pricing. That was a nice find : ) It was definately a players frame tho more so than any of the other Radicals I've had.

Anyhow they looked like this, although I think the real Agassi version was called a Radical Trisys???

Don't get too excited, though, folks - if this is true, they'll likely only offer the Oversize model, as that is the size that Agassi used.

you will never get your hands on whatever racquet agassi is really using because whatever racquet he is using is a one of a kind custom made racquet that has and never will grace the shelves of a retail store...

I have an old Radical Trisys 260 MP. It weighs in at 343grams strung with Prince Topspin 15L. I do not use it anymore because the frame cracked at the 12 O'clock positon, about 6.5 years ago.

Why would they? PT280 has nothing to do with Agassi.

Maybe since Agassi has retired, he won't need his racquets anymore and Head is just helping him to clear all his actual racquet stock.
That would be cool!
Btw I always wonder what former pros do to their old stock of racquets.

I used the Radical Trisys 260 MP but sold it years ago, it was a nice frame but not much over 12 ounces if at all from what I remember. I hope they release the MP and OS.

do you think that head will see a drop off in radical sales after aggasi throws in the towel? Are there any other players using that frame, besides murray (with the i rad) and soderling (i think he had it)?
