Help my cousin's 2hbh grip

My female cousin..she's about 12 or 13 now I think. I hit around with her the other day and noticed every time she hit her 2hbh it tended to go into the net and she had this weird twisting motion. I asked her about it and saw how she gripped the racquet. She holds her right hand continental but her left hand is up by the throat probably holding at least a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of throat. Is there anyway to fix it? I think she used to hold its there for support when she was hitting with her sister who's a #1 singles in her HS. It's now become a bad habit. Thanks in advance

Have you told her to try holding it lower?

Regardless, many teachers advocate practising hitting left-handed forehands. That would probably help in this regard.

Agree with BD... Could probably fix that really quick. I'd make sure she uses an eastern forehand grip (bevel 7 for index knuckle and heel of the hand) with the left hand.

I agree with this ^^

My girlfriend had a similar problem. She was using an open grip and was trying to get the ball over the net by rolling over with her wrists. Obviously, that didn't work. The problem was fixed by having her use an eastern grip and hitting it very flat. Her shots are now very deep and clear the net by about 2 feet.

Thanks I will try having her hit with an eastern grip. Told her to hold lower but bad habits arise when she doesn't have time to think and she reverts back to the open grip.

Also, maybe have her use a low, eastern ready grip between strokes, so her hand is always in the correct spot.

Another idea is to put something around the area where her hand isn't supposed to be. Something as simple as a twisted rubber band might be enough of a reminder. Or maybe a be shoelace with a bunch of knots in it might be irritating enough.
