How about this Thanasi Kokkinakis?

16 year old aussie youngster Thanasi Kokkinakis took Isner's spot at the Hopman Cup and played a inspired match against Verdasco.

Kokkinakis is a real talent... huge serve, huge forehand ...to my amazement he was overpowering Verdasco on both serve and forehand (sometimes on backhand) too

It doesn't seem right that they replaced someone on the American team with a non-American.

I'm impressed. I mean, the guy is 16!. Who knows what could have happened in that match if he wasn't injured. Of course, you never know how a player develops as they get older but this is a good start for sure.

(not a fan of the earring though)

Bumping this

Just curious recently where he is after Brisbane. He said in a post match interview that he was heading to Sydney to play but I can't find him in qualies or main draw :-?

Possibly . I'm just going off what I heard in his interview after the tonic match. Either way I hope he and kyrgios make waves at the Australian this year!

I think he's a great talent but may not mature as early as Nadal. He'll just have to keep on trying his best to improve and in 2-3 years, he could be in top 20.
